Site Management Muscatine 

 

 

As the leader responsible for operations at the Muscatine Site, you ensure compliance with laws and internal regulations while implementing the Crop Science Product Supply Strategy to enable safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing of crop protection active ingredients, intermediates, and finished products. You manage the Active Ingredient Manufacturing (AIM) and Formulation Fill & Packaging (FFP) units to produce Glyphosate, Acetochlor, and Dicamba, while fostering strong relations with the local community and key stakeholders. You ensure an appropriate organizational setup, maintain expertise at the site, and access functional experts, promoting decision-making at the lowest practical level through empowerment and development of employees. You are responsible for delivering high-quality products at planned volumes and lowest costs within all QHSE requirements, managing all Crop Science production activities and functions at the Muscatine Site, including engineering, active ingredient & formulation production, site logistics, QHSE, process improvement, operational excellence, and more.

 

 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Ensure compliance with laws and internal regulations in all operations;
  • Implement the Crop Science Product Supply Strategy for safe and reliable manufacturing;
  • Manage four (4) Active Ingredients Manufacturing (AIM) and two (2) Formulation Fill & Packaging (FFP) units to produce Glyphosate (AIM & FFP), Acetochlor (AIM & FFP), and Dicamba (FFP) products;
  • Foster relationships with the local community and key stakeholders;
  • Ensure an appropriate organizational set up designed to minimize wasteful activities, promote an entrepreneurial environment and maintain expertise at the site;
  • Lead in a manner that empowers employees and promotes decision-making at the lowest practical level;
  • Deliver high-quality products at planned volumes and lowest costs within QHSE requirements;
  • Responsible for all Crop Science production activities and departments at the Muscatine Site;
  • Coordinate site infrastructure/services and ensure HSE compliance, emergency preparedness, and crisis management;
  • Support organization vision through strategy deployment, focusing on Inclusion & Diversity and Sustainability leadership;
  • Monitor the market to ensure best practices and procedures in manufacturing;
  • Execute capital investment projects and de-investment;
  • Develop Sustainability and Digitalization at the site level;
  • Conduct or participate in labor relations and administer wage, salary, and bonus programs;
  • Represent Bayer at the Muscatine Site, promoting good relations with the community, government agencies, customers, and employees.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • University degree as Chemist or Chemical (Process) Engineer;
  • Extensive production and supply chain experience;
  • Strong leadership, motivation, and coaching skills;
  • Experience as a manager in leading large groups or departments;
  • Accomplished developer of talent to maximize contribution at all levels;
  • Strong strategic mindset and analytical skills;
  • Inclusive mindset valuing diverse experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Proven track record in managing complex production operations;
  • Experience in fostering community and stakeholder relations.
