As a Senior Operations Guide, you are responsible for delivering superior technical leadership and guidance to local personnel at our sites, ensuring multiple technical outcomes for Bayer Crop Science. You will lead and collaborate with stakeholders to discern diverse operational needs, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to achieve seed production and/or field-testing objectives. You will continuously assess and implement advanced agricultural practices, maintain a robust network reflecting our customer base, and create a team culture dedicated to environmental SSHE, regulatory compliance, and quality performance. Additionally, you will maintain world-class facilities and equipment while adhering to budgetary expectations.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Offer technical guidance and direction to on-site staff, including training on intricate research protocols and development of operational plans for site operations;
- Manage facilities and contribute high-impact outputs across multiple Breeding operational functions or other indications;
- Set daily site priorities across functional teams, prioritizing for impact on technical outcomes;
- Manage Seed Center focused on delivering regulated seed delivery;
- Hold self and peers accountable to outcomes and outputs through meaningful peer-to-peer feedback;
- Understand BCS and the impact of Breeding on the overall customer experience, with expertise in field-testing and seed packaging workflows;
- Establish a culture of personal development and growth for all staff on site;
- Continuously assess and enhance agricultural practices and methods utilized by consumers in the region;
- Create and maintain a site culture dedicated to high standards of environmental safety, health, regulatory compliance, and quality performance, ensuring adherence to safety, compliance, and regulatory policies;
- Collaborate with other functions and team members as a project leader on science impacting the region or capability hub, supporting transformative changes in field trial research through automation, technological innovation, system advancements, and new tools;
- Maintain and forecast budgets, ensuring adherence to corporate financial targets and overseeing multi-million-dollar assets and capital projects;
- Lead meaningful activities within the community to foster positive community relations and outreach efforts;
- Market and host tours of facilities and fields to key external stakeholders, demonstrating the value of Breeding and its impact on customer outcomes;
- Participate in hiring, supervision, and onboarding of temporary and full-time support staff, conducting workforce planning to identify contingent labor based on operational needs.
WHO YOU ARE:
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's License and eligibility to drive a company car or pooled vehicle (driving record must meet guidelines based on the company's Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers and MVR will be reviewed as part of pre-employment screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum five years' work experience with a bachelor's degree; OR advanced degree;
- Experience in breeding and NA market segments;
- Demonstrated success in fostering site culture dedicated to environmental SSHE, regulatory compliance, and quality performance;
- Demonstrated effectiveness in driving technical strategy and operations;
- Proven experience with strong ability to collaborate with other functions and team members as a project leader on regional projects, driving transformative change in field trial research;
- High business acumen of the North American breeding and R&D pipeline;
- Strong project management skills;
- Excels in an agile, fast-paced working environment.
Posting will be available through July 23, 2025.
Employees can expect to be paid an annual salary range of $99,274.29 - $148,911.43. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
