Senior Marketing Communication Manager-Turf & Ornamental 



This position is located in Cary, North Carolina.


The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Marketing Communication Manager, are to: 


  • Lead the development of the marketing communications strategy for the Turf and Ornamentals business;
  • Collaborate with customer marketing managers, product managers, business managers, commercial operations and the digital team to outline annual activation plans that support and drive segment growth plans;
  • Manage agency network to create and implement integrated marketing plans according to strategic priorities and budget;
  • Champion Marketing Excellence by ensuring agencies and marketing team utilizes Marketing Excellence methodologies to rationalize and activate marketing plans;
  • Co-lead Marketing Communication Steering committee for Environmental Science Collaborate with Environmental's Marketing Communications Managers to share best practices and ensure consistency in approach to activation across all Environmental Science businesses;
  • Manage Digital / Social Media, in conjunction with Evironmental Science Vector Management & PMPH marketing communication managers and marketing heads, outline and implement online and 360 customer management strategy for Environmental North America;
  • Be the interface and represent the U.S. Turf & Ornamental business in all relevant communications planning with Global Environmental Science Communications;
  • Manage MarCom Strategy and Execution, develop and implement, in close cooperation with the Customer Marketing Manager, the overall digital marketing communications strategy;
  • Lead third party agencies to manage and optimize the delivery of various digital marketing communications initiatives including website updates, online and print marketing programs and promotions, social media, e-commerce and online advertising and search campaigns;
  • Be responsible of Event Management, lead Customer Marketing, Product Marketing, Commercial Operations, and overall business to develop an annual event strategy and subsequent calendar that meets the business needs and objectives;
  • Lead third party agencies, event management companies and marketing administration to execute all details of the event strategy including booth graphics, literature and handouts, clothing, giveaways, catering, team preparation, etc., develop and implement post-show evaluation criteria and mechanism to determine the overall qualitative success of the event as well as quantitative event Return on Investment;
  • Manage POP/Collateral Materials and Trade Marketing, lead Product Marketing Team, Sales Team and Technical Support Team and direct third-party agencies to develop sales tools such as catalogs, brochures sell sheets, POP materials, etc., to assist in communicating strategies consistent with business objectives, develop creative, targeted promotions and trade/customer programs and develop Return on Investment calculator to measure the success of each;
  • Be responsible of Media Planning, own the development and implementation of the business’s Media Plan, consistently measure results and adjust plans accordingly, partner with customer marketing management and product marketing to lead definition, development and implementation of the Media strategy and direct 3rd party media agency in development and execution of the media plan elements to fit the overall business needs;
  • Manage Public Relations, lead Customer Marketing Manager and Product Marketing Manager to define and develop the PR strategy and direct 3rd party Public Relations agency in development and execution of Publlic Relations elements to fit the overall business needs, be the Turf and Ornamentals representative and contact for all key trade associations;
  • Be responsible and accountable for managing all purchase orders, ensuring that all expenses come within the overall approved budget, in conjunction with Head of Marketing, manage the forecasting of agency spend, assist in projects related to general marketing communication matters, customer relations or other initiatives, as assigned by the Head of Marketing;
  • Lead artwork review / copy claims process among Research & Development, Marketing, Legal and Regulatory to ensure information is accurate and compliant with corporate policies.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree with at least 12 years of experience, or Master's degree with at least 10 years of experience in marketing, communications or a related field;
  • Knowledge of the internal workings of advertising agencies and experience managing a network of agencies;
  • Strong understanding of all marketing communication vehicles, but additional strength in digital / social media as well as Public Relations (Focus Areas);
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills as well as presentation skills;
  • Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently;
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
