Scheduler (R&D Supply- Seed) 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Scheduler ensures Capability Hub success by serving as the key connection between Hub Operations and partners. This role involves liaising with Operations, Planners, Field Testing, Seed Production and Scientists to implement breeding long-range plans, ensuring timely material delivery and optimal resource use. Additionally, the Scheduler evaluates demand changes, coordinates with other Hubs for LRP distribution, establishes seasonal forecasts, and champions continuous improvement projects while maintaining safety and compliance standards.

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Scheduler, are to: 

 

  • Works closely with Sub Hub Leads and Operations Managers to break down high-level project plans into detailed (weekly, daily, shift) operations plans and tracking systems;
  • Liaise with Scientists, Nursery Design, Planners and Sub Hub Leads to operationalize Breeding LRP to ensure timely delivery of material;
  • Develop, implement and maintain a robust capacity management framework, allowing for optimal use of resources ensuring timely seed production;
  • Proactively evaluate Breeding long range plan to quantify changes in demand and collaborate with Operations and Planning to identify and implement changes to ensure on-time delivery;
  • Coordinate with other Hubs to propose appropriate distribution of LRP demand across Hubs;
  • Establish seasonal demand forecast;
  • Champion site continuous improvement projects;
  • Lead communication between Operations and Planning, including seed shipping and receiving, set greenlighting and packaging priorities;
  • Establish target alignment and delivery metrics with Planning and Operations;
  • Champion safety, quality, and trait compliance initiatives.
  • Efficiently & effectively carryout all detailed record keeping and other technical objectives;
  • Works closely with other research staff to champion, coordinate and implement process improvements;

  • Position entails driving a company vehicle (pooled or assigned to the individual). This may include being required to drive greater than 8,500 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle OR being expected to frequently drive a pooled car as part of your job duties – regardless of mileage.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Solid experience in a plant, production/manufacturing or an R&D environment (laboratory, field, or growth room);
  • Valid Driver’s License. Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed and must meet and maintain guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers.
  • Understanding of breeding methodologies and practices;
  • Strong knowledge and experience in production systems, and supply planning, project tracking and management, forecasting, capacity management and costing methodologies;
  • Strong computer software literacy;
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, with the ability to work with people individually or in a team to gain commitment to achieve those results;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functionally and delegating work within a matrix environment;
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary/multicultural research team;
  • Possess strong ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail;
  • Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize daily tasks;
  • Adaptability and ability to learn new procedures, systems, and methodologies;
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in a plant, production/manufacturing or R&D;
  • 5+ environment (laboratory, field, or growth room).
