Sample Prep Specialist  

 

This position is responsible for contributing to quality and medium-throughput plant material preparation workflows of the Sample Prep function.   This role will contribute to ensuring the highest quality and integrity in sample preparation. 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

   

 

  • Prepare plant tissue samples (grinding, ginning, de-linting, lyophilizing, etc.) 

 

  • Aliquot and dispense prepared plant samples to various analysts and shipping samples to internal and external laboratories 

 

  • Receive and take inventory of plant sample materials 

 

  • Organize, place or retrieve inventories (ambient, 4C, or -20C walk-in coolers, warehouse, or -80C upright units) 

 

  • Create and ship plant sampling kits 

 

  • Prepare seed packets for use in Regulatory field trials 

 

  • There is opportunity for the candidate to move within the various roles as proficiency is gained.  

 

  • Document all sample handling activities in both electronic and manual systems. 

 

  • Perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment, and be able to communicate with sample owners, other team members, and analysts. 

 

  • Use various lab equipment to prepare plant tissue samples per established SOPs. 

 

  • Complete tasks through multiple workflows 

 

  • Complete required training on and follow EPA GLP, USDA-APHIS, and/or other international regulations 

 

  • Maintenance of GLP compliance via documentation for laboratory equipment will also be required.   

 

  • Adhere to production plans, protocols, and relevant SOP's for the care, handling, or preparation of seed or samples

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: 

 

  

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  

 

  • BS in biological science OR High School Diploma/GED equivalent with 2 + years' lab-based experience. 

 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 

 

 

 

 

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $57,093.60 - $85,640.40. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
