YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will perform and optimize fermentations for protein production, media optimization, strain screening and support for biologics manufacturing site.
The primary responsibilities of this role, R&D Specialist II, are to:
- Perform fermentation processes from laboratory to pilot scales, ensuring process robustness and reproducibility;
- Deliver daily/weekly targets, such as performing fermentations for protein production focusing on yield, productivity, and product quality;
- Optimize and implement strategies for media optimization, ensuring growth and productivity of microbial strains in fermentation;
- Take over shared responsibility for specialized fermentation technology;
- Optimize workflows, validate methods using multiple data sources. Use specialized scientific techniques to conduct experiments and process improvements;
- Adhere to established protocols and techniques, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation, solve routine problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning of diverse procedures within specialized laboratory technology;
- Prioritize work within the team; maintain detailed record keeping and required documentation;
- Achieve commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;
- Skilled in organizing and reporting specialized laboratory reports, including analyzing and interpreting the results of experiments, cost/benefit analysis, and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
- Take initiative in keeping current with developments in specialized area;
- The successful candidate will thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high quality deliverables, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and will have proven initiative in some categories of accomplishments, either individually or as part of a group.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Strong focus on fermentation and protein production;
- Strong biotechnology acumen with the ability to independently design experiments and analyze data;
- Proficiency with data analysis and visualization software;
- Strong knowledge of experimental design;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent with 10 years of relevant experience;
- B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field with 2 years of related experience in academia or industry;
- M.S.in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field with related experience in academia or industry.
