Principal Mechanical Maintenance Enginee 

 

As a Project Engineer, you are responsible for the design, planning, execution, documentation, commissioning, and handover of specific technical work packages, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. This role involves detailed engineering for a specific discipline, including the design, calculation, and specification of related engineering documents, as well as field engineering. You stay current with best practices and relevant internal and external regulations, implementing these standards throughout the project lifecycle. You provide strategic direction to multiple plants and sites as a technical leader to both internal and external networks, leading and developing teams, and driving innovation through engineering support for chemical manufacturing areas. This includes technical support to troubleshoot and solve problems impacting equipment reliability, environmental compliance, and safety. You will also be a key contributor in site root cause analysis, failure mode and effect analysis outcomes.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop key equipment support for the maintenance of area process operations; identify, evaluate, specify, and select process equipment to ensure the reliable and safe operation of the assigned assets;
  • Implement and direct the operability, reliability, and integrity of the assigned assets;
  • Manage the site's larger, most complex turn-arounds of assigned assets;
  • Plan, execute, and monitor multiple budgets and complex investments;
  • Support and review site level safety and reliability inspections; oversee the plan, design, and execution of solutions to resolve discrepancies identified by the Mechanical Integrity group;
  • Lead and participate in site level root cause analysis, asset criticality analysis, and failure mode and effect analysis studies to improve reliability of the area equipment;
  • Evaluate and implement materials of construction of process and utility equipment to improve reliability and performance;
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement equipment and process modifications to eliminate deficiencies and bottlenecks;
  • Analyze and provide solutions for asset and process problems;
  • Work with Procurement to review appropriate sparing strategies, while effectively utilizing Bayer resources;
  • Direct compliance with safety and environmental requirements and engineering standards regarding equipment and material technology; comply with site safety rules and actively work to improve safety through coaching or engineered improvements;
  • Develop and maintain equipment documentation: equipment descriptions, spare parts, equipment lists, histories, manuals, flow sheet documentation, drawings, etc.;
  • Direct adherence to procedures, guidelines, design standards, and technologies across the Site as a subject matter expert; lead or represent Site on corporate teams;
  • Develop equipment-specific technical training on the operation and maintenance of process equipment in process operations; support start-up of unit operations; improve equipment reliability and performance to enable best practices in site operations;
  • Guide experience exchange and promote knowledge transfer with other site Engineers; champion self-development, technical training, and technical mentoring to develop and engage other engineers and area personnel;
  • Support Site and Area Production System improvements, OnePSS.

WHO YOU ARE:

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S;
  • Proven ability to provide strategic direction and leadership in technical networks;
  • Strong skills in troubleshooting and solving problems impacting equipment reliability, environmental compliance, and safety;
  • Experience in managing complex projects and budgets;
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis and failure mode and effect analysis studies;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to guide and mentor teams;
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with engineering standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or related fields;
  • B.S. with 8 years or M.S. with 6 years of progressive engineering experience;
  • Familiarity with Bayer's engineering standards and practices.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $ $97,760.00 - $146,640.00 additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
