YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

  • Design, develop, and execute novel in-planta disease and nematode assays for resistance gene evaluation via plant phenotyping and organism quantification;
  • Use specialized knowledge, current and pertinent scientific literature in relevant technologies, and consultations with subject-matter experts to identify solutions to complex assay development problems;
  • Communicate results in a timely and organized fashion to project team and key stakeholders through scientific reports and presentations;
  • May be responsible for performing multiple experimental protocols under supervision;
  • Prioritize and coordinates work within a matrixed testing environment maintaining detailed record keeping and required documentation;
  • Achieves commitment to safety and compliance, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.?

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Enrollment in a master's or Ph.D. program in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Nematology, or a closely related Life Science degree;
  • Experience in culturing microbes or nematodes;
  • Practical experience designing and implementing experiments to evaluate plant disease phenotypes for growth chamber environments;
  • Proficient in microscopy techniques with plant tissue and microbes'
  • Experience working in highly collaborative environment and effectively communicate research findings with audiences from diverse technical backgrounds;
  • Proficient at analyzing data and interpreting results from complex statistical designs.?

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $36.80 to $46.30. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
