What You Will Do

 

 

 

The Operations Guide is responsible for delivering superior technical leadership and guidance of complex processes and operations across teams as well as primarily responsible to deliver new Breeding innovations and concepts into routines. This position involves lending and collaborating with partners on site, across breeding and suppliers to discern operational needs, prioritizing tasks, and delegating responsibilities to ensure the successful attainment of end-to-end pipeline and product generations for corn seed and trait business. The incumbent will continuously assess and implement advanced processes for greenhouse and nurseries operations, focus on end-to-end pipeline and product delivery, create and maintain a team culture dedicated to HSE, regulatory compliance and operational excellence performance. Additionally, the Guide is accountable to maintaining world class facilities and equipment while maintaining reasonable budgetary expectations.

 

 

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

 

 

  • Offers technical guidance and direction to teams and staff, including training on intricate processes related to Greenhouse Operations and delivery of seeds for the development of products for Crop Science and Breeding innovations.
  • Holds self and peers accountable to outcomes and outputs thru meaningful peer-to-peer feedback.
  • Excellent understanding on the impact that Breeding can have to the overall customer experience. Expert understanding on Greenhouse workflows and impact to Breeding goals and pipeline and product end-to-end- impact of site operations.
  • Establishes a culture of personal development and growth for self and others on site.
  • Continuously assess and enhances all greenhouse and nurseries practices and methods co-developed with Product Design scientists to deliver new genetics and traits.
  • Understands the impact work performed at the site relative to Breeding outcomes.
  • Creates, maintains, and values a site culture dedicated to the highest standards of environmental safety, health, regulatory compliance, and quality performance. Responsible for ensuring adherence to safety, compliance, and regulatory policies, including employee documentation and training standards, while developing and updating programs to align with evolving regulations.
  • Collaborates with other functions and team members as a project leader on science that impacts the region or capability hub or capability center, supporting transformative change in greenhouse and nursery operations.
  • Values and leads meaningful and impactful activities within the community to foster positive community relations and outreach efforts.
  • Co-accountable for budget maintenance and forecasting, ensuring adherence to overall corporate and company financial targets, and the oversight of mutli-million-dollar assets and capital projects.
  • Participates in the hiring, supervision, and onboarding of full-time support staff, conducting workforce planning to identify contingent labor based on operational needs.
  • Creates site strategy for building a network that represents customers within the region.
  • Participates in projects with on Product/Technical Unit teams contributing to the strategy and development of products in the associated pipeline.

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

 

 

  • HS degree plus 10 years internal experience accepted or a  B.S./B.A. degree + 5 years as a minimum requirement.  Experience in Breeding and/or NA market segments preferred  
  • Demonstrated success in fostering team culture dedicated to environmental SSHE, regulatory compliance and quality performance.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in driving technical strategy and operations.
  • Proven experience with strong ability to collaborate with other functions and team members as a project leader, supporting transformative change in greenhouse environment through the integration of automation, technological innovation, system advancements, the deployment of new tools and strategies.
  • High business acumen on global breeding pipeline.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excels in an agile fast-paced working environment.
