Intermediate Electrical Project Engineer

 

As an Intermediate Electrical Project Engineer, you play a crucial role in providing daily tactical direction, applying technical skills, and resolving routine issues throughout the project execution process. Your efforts ensure the safe, efficient, productive, and cost-effective design and implementation of capital projects within the Active Ingredients manufacturing facility. You are accountable for planning, coordinating, and executing the technical activities necessary to support capital execution in manufacturing operations.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide engineering project management for capital projects from initiation through completion;
  • Handle projects of moderate complexity and manage a moderate project load;
  • Develop accurate project cost estimates, identify cost-savings, and provide updates to management;
  • Lead project reviews and ensure thorough follow-up on action items;
  • Develop clear and concise appropriation requests, and communicate and present background and justification;
  • Select appropriate vendors and solicit bids in collaboration with Purchasing;
  • Assist Construction Field Coordinators with project implementation requirements and review work activities, safety, and construction at job sites;
  • Accurately document project files and closure information in a timely manner;
  • Ensure systems and equipment are designed and installed in accordance with Bayer and regulatory standards, considering life cycle costs;
  • Provide input and engineering assistance to site personnel to facilitate the application of plant and corporate standards, safety procedures, and other regulatory requirements;
  • Stay current with industry standards, technology, and improved safety methods, and participate in the upkeep of Bayer electrical norms, practices, standards, guidelines, and procedures;
  • Ensure the operability, reliability, and integrity of assigned assets, and support electrical distribution systems and infrastructure projects within the Muscatine facility;
  • Assist in compliance with safety and environmental requirements and engineering standards regarding equipment and NFPA70e and actively work to improve safety through coaching or engineered improvements.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 4 years of progressive engineering experience OR a master's degree in electrical engineering with 2 years of progressive engineering experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Strong Electrical and Instrumentation troubleshooting skills;
  • Proficient in SAP, Prometheus, and Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Experience with electrical drawings, including instruments, motors, and electrical schematics;
  • Experience with the layout of construction or shutdown activities related to project scheduling;
  • Awareness of NFPA70E, power distribution, Arc Flash analysis, Power Lines/Transformers;
  • Knowledge of design codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, NEC, OSHA, ADA, ASME).

 

Position may be eligible for domestic relocation benefits

Posting will be available until April 17, 2026

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $ 71,120.00 - $106,680.00. Compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
