Position Overview:

As a HEG Mechanical Specialist located in Soda Springs, Idaho, you will provide advanced mechanical skills for the repair and preventative maintenance of large mobile equipment. This equipment primarily includes Caterpillar loaders, trucks, modified scrapers, and miscellaneous machinery. Your role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of these essential assets, contributing significantly to our manufacturing processes.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform routine services, troubleshooting, and repairs on systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, power train, drive train, emissions, small engines, generators, and mobile HVAC;
• Utilize welding skills for equipment maintenance and repairs;
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment using laptop computers or similar devices;
• Conduct maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment;
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures during all mechanical operations;
• Collaborate with team members to enhance equipment performance and reliability.

WHO YOU ARE:

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Experience as a mobile equipment mechanic or Diesel Technician, or a formal equivalent degree or Technical Certification;
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision;
• Willingness to work overtime and irregular schedules;
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail;

• Willing and able to lift 50 pounds up to a height of 3 feet;
• Requires stooping, standing, and walking;
• Must possess good hand/eye coordination and depth perception;

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Welding certifications;
• Experience working on Caterpillar equipment;

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate of $43.54.  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
