Global Trade Specialist  

 

Manage the day-to-day interaction and coordination of the import/export of seed and non-seed (chemical, specialized, research) items entering/exiting the US. This role is critical to delivering the business through ensuring Import and Export Operations meet compliance and customs requirements, are accurate and efficient, meeting customer and production demands. 

  

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • With minimal supervision, perform Import/Export activities in compliance with Government rules and regulations, organizational policies, procedures, goals and objectives 

  • Expedite the import/export process by liaising with regional Import/Export coordinators, Warehousing/Distribution, and Plant & Production planning 

  • Coordinate logistics for import/export shipments (ocean, air, land, rail) working closely with freight forwarders, brokers, Transportation Contract managers and internal stakeholders 

  • Ensure all work is completed in a timely and compliant manner, adhering to all internal policies and government regulations. 

  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with US and foreign customers 

  • Audit team members files to ensure files are maintained in audit-ready status. 

  • Participate in internal or external (USCBP/EPA) audits 

  • Be responsible and accountable for accurate, timely and compliant processing of all orders for assigned countries and/or product portfolio. 

  • Remain current on all applicable import/export regulations through formal training and self-guided initiatives. 

  • Develop, maintain and train team members and stakeholders on Standard Operating Procedures associated with assigned portfolio. 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally, across divisions and internationally to identify and implement best practices and maintain a culture of continuous improvement. 

  • Serve as the key contact for foreign partners/customers 

  • Conduct import/export operations process training as required 

  • Handle complex global trade accounts/trade lanes 

  • Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to APHIS, Customs and Border Protection, USDA and other government agency laws and regulations 

  • Become Subject Matter Expert for assigned business units 

  • Maintain good understanding of Bayer s product portfolio and production processes 

  • Perform other duties and participate in projects as needed 

 

WHO YOU ARE 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:   

Required Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS Degree and 3+ years' experience in Business Administration, Logistics, Manufacturing, International Commerce in Import or Export 

  • Ability to read and write English with strong verbal and written communication skills 

  • Experience working in SAP or Global Trade system 

  • Must have the flexibility to work overtime when necessary 

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong project management and excellent analytical  

  • Experience with agricultural and / or chemical products  

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $68,089.92 - $102,134.88. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
