YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

We are seeking a scientist to join the Crop Science Plant Biotechnology team. This position will be focused on the visualization of gene expression patterns in crop tissues via reporter genes.

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Gene Expression Visualization Scientist, are to: 

 

  • Collaborate with other scientists to execute, analyze, and interpret gene expression experiments to inform and test predictions from computational models;
  • Use cross section plant tissues and visualize gene expression patterns through colorimetric or fluorescent reporter genes;
  • Use, maintain, and improve semi-automated microscopy workflows for image capture, scoring, and analysis;
  • Document research plans, methods, results, and data analyses;
  • Prepare and communicate reports and summaries in written and/or verbal form to key stakeholders;
  • Follow established operational standards including best practices, safety protocols and compliance policies;
  • Prioritize and coordinate work within a larger team and across functional groups.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology or related field;
  • Demonstrated record of productivity in research;
  • Working knowledge of angiosperm development and anatomy;
  • Previous hands-on experience with reporter genes;
  • Demonstrated record of working independently as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, capacity for analytical thinking and creativity, as well as enthusiasm for hands-on bench work.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology or related field;
  • Previous experience with semi-automated or automated image scoring and analysis;
  • Previous experience with GUS staining in maize and/or soybean tissues.

 

This posting will be available for application until at least 3/20/26.

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $76,480.00 to $114,720.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
