YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As Director, Global Intelligence and Economics, you will shape the long-term strategic direction of the business by developing a forward-looking view of global agriculture. You will provide critical insights that inform enterprise strategy, capital allocation, and long[1]range planning, enabling leadership to confidently navigate an increasingly complex and uncertain global environment.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Director, Global Intelligence and Economics, are to:
- Develop and maintain a global agricultural economic outlook to guide enterprise strategy, capital allocation, and long-term investment decisions;
- Build advanced scenario models across commodity prices, acreage shifts, regulatory divergence, and geopolitical risks to navigate uncertainty;
- Identify and interpret structural shifts in agriculture—including Asia's industrial strategy, climate economics, supply chain realignment, and carbon markets—and translate them into clear business implications;
- Lead competitive and geopolitical assessments, identifying strategic inflection points, emerging risks, and potential market entrants;
- Provide forward-looking insights on performance versus industry benchmarks, highlighting opportunities and areas of risk;
- Interpret global trade, regulatory, and policy developments and convert them into actionable, enterprise-level recommendations;
- Influence senior stakeholders by quantifying the impact of market and competitor trends on revenue, market share, margins, and supply chain resilience;
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Strategy, Finance, R&D, and Commercial, delivering clear, executive-ready narratives that drive alignment and decisions;
- Represent the organization externally, establish best-in-class strategic intelligence frameworks, and provide forward-looking thought leadership that ensures the business stays ahead of change
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Business, or a related field;
- Deep expertise in global agriculture, trade systems, and economic dynamic;
- Proven track record of influencing senior executives and shaping enterprise-level strategy;
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional strategic thinking, foresight, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights;
- Strong commercial acumen and have experience building long-term business cases;
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization and drive alignment;
- Ability to make timely decisions and deliver measurable, high-impact outcomes;
- Willingness to travel up to 20% and work effectively across global time zones;
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and bring strong executive presence with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $173,440.00 to $260,160.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
