 What You Will Do
  
 The B Chemical Operator produces quality technical materials and intermediates in a safe and efficient manner, and applies knowledge or skill to address complex situations with minimal guidance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership through application of the Bayer values and core competencies. The B Chemical Operator is expected to be a leader and problem solver.
  
 Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  
 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  
  - Produce finished active ingredients (chemical synthesis) in a multiproduct plant per SOPs
  - Identify and troubleshoot operational and instrumentation problems and reports.
  - Operate and monitor control systems and production equipment including pumps, conveyors, field controls, and material handling systems in a multiproduct chemical synthesis plant per SOPs.
  - Assist in startup, shutdown, cleaning, and routine operation of production lines and equipment.
  - Monitor and operate central control room systems; coordinate with field operators to ensure simultaneous operations across multiple products.
  - Identify, troubleshoot, and report operational and instrumentation issues; recognize unique or obscure process deviations and propose corrective actions.
  - Calculate batch charges and maintain clear, accurate records of the manufacturing process.
  - Collect samples at appropriate times, ensure correct procedures, and send to analytical lab; perform routine in-process analyses using standard lab instrumentation.
  - Operate forklifts, snorkel lifts, and other equipment to transport raw materials, intermediate chemicals, and access elevated equipment.
  - Perform spill response and clean-up activities; ensure proper safety equipment is worn in all areas of responsibility.
  - Responsible for controlling and operating processes involving highly flammable or toxic chemicals.
  - Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards including RCRA hazardous waste regulations, waste determinations, labeling, inspection, and recordkeeping for satellite accumulation areas, containers, and tanks.
  - Maintain accurate logs and documentation of operational activities.
  - Support A-Level Operators and Maintenance Technicians with tasks as needed; may be asked to fill in as Lead Operator.
  - Participate in cross-training, continuous improvement initiatives, and employee safety processes.
  - Mentor and train other operators as needed.
  - Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  
  
 Required Qualifications:
  
  - High School diploma or GED equivalent required;
  - Ability to work 24/7 rotating shifts including weekends and required overtime;
  - Employees can expect to work built-in overtime, mandatory overtime, in addition to voluntary overtime;
  - Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn equipment operation.
  - Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  - Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  - Ability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation;
  - Able and willing to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including use of respirator with full facemask to supply oxygen;
  - Able and willing to climb ladders or ride Aerial Lifts as necessary; harnessed into an anti-fall device and tied off.
  - Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods;
  - Work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, and noise.
  
  
 Required Qualifications:
  
  - Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.

 Employees can expect to be paid a salary of $33.63 per hour. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
