What You Will Do

 

The Automation Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of automated control systems at the site.  Automation technicians will work closely with multiple support groups to ensure continuous availability, continuous improvement and reliability of the automated systems.  Support groups include, but not limited to, maintenance, safety, quality, operations, regional automation engineering, IT, and others.  In addition, the automation technician will work with 3rd party system integrators to ensure delivery of capital projects at the site.  Additionally, the Automation Technician will provide initial support to Bayer IT team for troubleshooting and/or project support.  The Automation Technician will also be responsible for utilizing the SAP Maintenance Connect (or equivalent) for work order initiation, tracking, and completion.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Responsible for all maintenance automation processes at the Automation site.
  • Provide on-the-floor support for daily production activities.
  • Conduct periodic GEMBA walks throughout the production areas to maintain proper communication with stakeholders of any issues and/or abnormalities that may arise.
  • Responsible for working with support groups on completion of interlock tests.
  • Ensure the availability of automation systems.
  • Make changes to control systems, if necessary while following MOC best practices.
  • Ensure the reliability of data transfer tystems from the control network to the corporate network.
  • Responsible for working with Ag Engineering and Regional Automation Engineers on the execution of site capital projects to align with automation standards.
  • Develop and participate in failure root cause analysis and implement corrective actions/preventative actions.
  • Develop working instructions, procedures, and one-point lessons.
  • Train the Autonomous Maintenance team in your area of expertise.
  • Monitor the Autonomous Maintenance team in your area of expertise.
  • Monitor the Autonomous Maintenance activities providing guidance to the team.
  • Lifecycle management of documentation to keep it current.
  • Identify and implement improvements in the process, equipment, and procedures.
  • Participate actively in meeting the commitments of the Policy and the objectives of Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the quality of products and services, reducing the risk of accidnts, reducing the consumption of Natural Resources and the appropriate Disposal of Waste.
  • Comply with internal procedures and assist in meeting the legal requirements applicable to its activities.
  • Help eliminate losses and create value by reducing variation in the production process and equipment settings.
  • Use Focused Improvement techniques (e.g. 5WHYs) to initiate process improvement.
  • Responsible for life cycle management of automated equipment as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Support areas throughout the plant in conducting the adoption of 5S practices to maintain an environment conducive to work, aligning with marking and ordering tools.
  • Help keep metrics and other relevant information up-to-date in visual management frameworks to conduct teamwork and facilitate turn change.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of applicable experience?
  • Technical Training in Electrical, Instrumentation or Mechatronics;
  • Instrumentation and Electrical Equipment, Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interface;
  • Industrial automation?;
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Standards, especially NFPA 70?;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Ability to work well with others.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree;?
  • Knowledge of Robotics?;
  • Technical college diploma and/or related technical certification?;
  • Experience using SAP.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $ 35.97-40.57 per hour. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
