YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Agronomic Research Manager lll (Washington, Illinois), are to: 

 

  • Implement small replicated plots or field scale research testing as required;
  • Manage data using internal database systems and submit high quality data in a timely manner;
  • Validate and ensure that field protocol information, site assignments, data collected, and materials (seed/chemistry/samples) are available in a timely manner to field investigator;
  • Assist in relevant data summarization;
  • Complete all safety training as required and operate safely when handling pesticides, seed, or other products as well as vehicles and equipment used to conduct field trials;
  • Be a proficient at safely operating, maintaining and transporting small plot research and commercial agricultural equipment;
  • Be a proficient to ensure all compliance guidelines are met for various regulated field research activities;
  • Identify ways to improve the compliance process;
  • Manage and oversee local research site activities;
  • Leverage key relationships for business needs;
  • Recruit and hire temporary assistants and ensure that all required safety, compliance, and equipment training is completed;
  • Work cross-functionally on field testing, equipment and equipment technology improvement projects;
  • Position entails driving a company vehicle (pooled or assigned to the individual). This may include being required to?drive greater than 5,000 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle?OR?being expected to?frequently drive a pooled car as part of your job duties - regardless of mileage;?? 
  • Position requires driving for the company that will fall under DOT/FMCSA jurisdiction and may require a CDL.?This may entail the hauling of trailers, product, supplies or equipment in a safe manner.

 

Domestic relocation assistance may be offered with this role.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related discipline;
  • Advanced knowledge of crop production in an assigned geography which includes all or some of corn, canola, soybean, cotton, cereals, vegetables, and specialty crops;
  • Proficient knowledge of precision farming/GIS systems;
  • Obtain and maintain a pesticide applicator certification in the state(s) within the territory;
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs (a bag of seed);
  • Valid driver's license. Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed (i.e. moving violations, accidents, license suspension, etc.) and must meet guidelines based on the company's Risk?Screening for Hiring Drivers;

  • Possess a DOT Driver medical card or the ability to obtain one through successfully completing and passing a DOT physical. In?addition, candidate must be able to meet all applicable DOT/FMCSA criteria. Drivers with previous DOT driving?experience may be required to undergo FMCSA safety checks and applicable review;

  • Possess a CDL license or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred: 

  • At least eight years of experience in Agronomy, Sales, Field Development or R&D related roles, or Master of Science with at least five years of experience or Ph.D. with at least two years of experience in agriculture or related discipline;

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $90,814.40 - $136,221.60. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
