Shipping Specialist

The Shipping Specialist strives to:

  • have customers choose Bayer as their preferred provider for their operation?;
  • enable customer-facing teams unit supporting squads to run their local business for the benefit of customers andBayer; and
  • deliver exceptional customer experience through maximized efficiencies for Bayer Crop Science while managing strategic partnerships with our key 3PL service providers.

Bayer is committed to a flexible hybrid working environment. This is a permanent position based in Canada, ideally in Calgary, Alberta.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for the transportation process to customers, including returns, ensuring operations in a safe and compliant manner that meets both customer and commercial needs
  • Responsible for Transportation Costs budget and Long-Range Plans preparation, monitoring of KPIs, metrics and expenses to ensure adherence to budgets and targets
  • Ensure that Optimization tools are fully utilized for load planning and freight payment process
  • Collaborate with procurement to specify business requirements for vendors' and participate in vendor selection process, and business assignation.
  • Responsible for all operational tasks in Transportation, e.g.: Plan, schedule, route outbound and replenishment freight of finished goods Plan and execute transportation for customer returns and dealer-to-dealer programs Optimize load and routes, where not outsourced, utilizing TMS capabilities Ensure visibility and documentation along all stages, e.g. shipment information visibility, proof of delivery, tracing of shipment enroute (Cargo Monitoring) Manage freight accruals, payments and approve invoices. Manage carriers' / transportation vendors' operational performance, relationship, safety, customer satisfaction, and compliance
  • Work with the squad members to onboard new team members and support people processes. Execute necessary actions to resolve any issues, claims or complaints, involving Customer Interaction and Customer Operations as needed
  • Work & collaborate with the assigned customer-facing commercial unit(s), USS, and Mission teams to achieve BCS Canada business objectives & deliver outcomes

Who you are:

  • BA/BS degree in Logistics/Business/or related field and/or 4/+ yrs. of management experience in roles related to transportation, warehousing, inventory control, or supply chain.

It's an asset to also have the following:

  • Knowledge of Transportation systems and warehousing systems like WMS, TMS, SAP
  • Broad-based skill set and knowledge of areas such as safety, cost, reliability, and quality
  • Ability to travel within Canada 5-15% of the time
  • Any experience working in the agricultural field
