Import Export Specialist

Enable customer-facing teams unit supporting squads to run their local business for the benefit of customers andBayer. The Import Export Specialist will ensure smooth flow of international logistics for Bayer Crop Science, on time and in compliance with all applicable Canadian and regional regulations.
Bayer is committed to a flexible hybrid working environment. This is a permanent position based out of Calgary, Alberta.
What you will do:
- Responsible for day-to-day tasks for Imports and Exports, international Customer order movements, global trade compliance for Seeds, Crop Protection, Chemicals and Vegetable business lines for Bayer CropScience Canada.
- Responsible for reviewing/auditing customs manifests/document including shipping document to ensure compliance.
- Close coordination with Squad members (Distribution & Warehouse Import and Export Squad) and other Squads within PS Unit like Customer Operations, Planning and Rebates/Licensing Squads.
- Responsible for finding and providing guidelines for solving non-compliant subjects while document screening. Escalate non-compliant situations to ITC Lead once discovered.
- Ensure that the screening timing targets meet agreed SLA turnaround times in the Import Greenlight approval process and in any other systems/tools in place.
- Process Export Order Site requests and send to importing countries' Bayer Import Greenlight for approval process; facilitate export control documentation if needed and other export requirements as required, example CERS filing.
- Responsible to maintain for record-keeping, manage, solicit or issue CUSMA or any Free Trade Agreement Certificates for BSC Canada and other Bayer affiliates (ie. Bayer CropScience US, BITS, etc.).
- Maintain and review Customs Brokers Bayer CropScience database for all elements like HS Tariff Classification, GST code, new product updates, etc.
- Build and maintain internal source of knowledge/checklists. Create and update SOPs and QRs/Work Instructions (WIs) as needed.
- Provide data mining, data analytics on KPIs and other monthly reports as required.
- Good knowledge including practical skills to work with SAP, Trade Automation and other relevant tools in place to secure compliance.
- Facilitate invoice payments related to global trade activities and/or Import/Export operations.
- Support ITC Lead with all trade compliance issues including any internal or external audits
- Work & collaborate with the assigned customer-facing Commercial Unit(s), USS, and Mission teams to achieve BCS Canada business objectives & deliver outcomes.
- Other tasks as assigned from time to time by PS Unit Lead or Squad teams or DSO (Dynamic Shared Ownership) Communities including participation in special missions or other 90-day outcomes from other Units.
Who you are:
Required:
-
- BA/BS degree / Post Secondary Education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business or related field
- Certified Customs Specialist designation (CCS) or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist designation (CTCS) or working towards attaining the designation/s
- Basic knowledge on Import-Export procedures, Logistics and Customs processes
- At least 3-5 years experience with Canada Customs
- Advanced Excel and ability to learn new systems & data analytics and reporting tools
Desired:

- Knowledge in TMS, Trade Automation systems and SAP preferred
- Key competencies: customer focus, strategic mindset, results orientation, collaboration, agility, conflict management, decision making, strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, relationship management skills
- Broad-based skill set and knowledge of areas such as safety, cost, reliability, and quality
- Ability to travel away from Calgary 5-10% of time
