Agronomy Specialist

 

What You’ll Achieve as a Customer Solutions Agronomist:

  • Get customers to choose Bayer as their go-to provider for their operations.
  • Help team members run their local businesses in a way that benefits both customers and Bayer.
  • Use agronomic expertise and research to boost team knowledge, improve customer experiences, and create local business opportunities through better on-farm decisions.

 

This is a full-time 19-month, home-based position in Grande Prairie or Peace River, with travel in the surrounding area of the Peace Region of Alberta and British Columbia.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Work together with your squad to hit profit and loss targets.
  • Plan and execute tasks in short (90-day), mid, and long-term cycles.
  • Adapt and reassess tasks regularly to keep making progress toward your squad goals.
  • Collaborate with your team to make sure everyone knows their roles and stays focused on customers.
  • Use digital tools and your agronomic know-how to support and service the full Bayer portfolio, while also using market intel and data insights to identify and prioritize opportunities.
  • Contribute to a positive team vibe by helping with things like peer recruitment, selection, and giving performance feedback.
  • Create a professional and safe working environment, ensuring that safety and compliance standards are met or exceeded.
  • Define the technical strategy to meet your squad’s data and demand generation goals.
  • Work with the Market Development team to develop and execute field testing protocols, creating agronomic solutions and launching new products with the help of digital tools.
  • As the local technical expert, communicate Bayer’s agronomic position to your squad, customers, retailers, academics, and independent agronomists, ensuring new technologies are well-received by key influencers and customers.
  • Provide technical support for tricky product performance questions that need deeper analysis.
  • Help with weed and crop protection management strategies and other stewardship initiatives for Bayer’s product portfolio, including providing technical support and training.
  • Collect and enter trial data into Bayer''s data management systems (like Velocity and Scout), ensuring the highest data quality standards, and team up with Data Scientists to analyze this data using advanced statistical techniques.

 

Who You Are:

  • You have experience in agronomy or agricultural research, plus a post-secondary education in this field.
  • You have a CCA, CCSC, P.Ag, or Order of Agronomist designation (or are eligible).
  • You understand crop production, agronomy, and Bayer’s product portfolio for seed, crop protection, and digital solutions.
  • You’re a strong communicator and can explain technical stuff to non-technical folks.
  • You can organize and run a high-quality field research trial program.
  • You have a strategic view of regional issues and understand how actions impact Bayer’s short-, mid-, and long-term goals.
  • You know how to develop research protocols that meet customer needs.
  • You can execute demonstrations and sales support activities on farms to back the business.
  • You have a valid driver’s license and can safely operate motor vehicles.
  • You’re capable of supervising and coaching summer students effectively.

Bonus Skills/Experience:

  • You have advanced computer and database skills and can use the MS Office Suite, along with other BCS software (like CRM and Tableau).

This posting complies with the British Columbia Pay Transparency Act. The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $90,000.
