Summary

As a Utility/Packer, you will be responsible for blending ingredients, filling bags or containers with product, and ensuring all packaging meets quality and safety standards. You will also use a computer system to track and label products while keeping your work area clean and organized.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Set Up & Pack - Prepare the packing machine with the correct settings and ensure bags, sacks, or boxes are filled and sealed properly.
  • Weigh & Label - Check that all products have the correct weight and label information before stacking.
  • Tote & Super Sack Handling - Assemble, fill, sample, and transport large totes or super sacks, ensuring they meet weight and labeling requirements.
  • Quality & Sampling - Collect product samples, inspect magnets for contamination, and deliver samples to the lab for testing.
  • Cleaning & Maintenance - Clean equipment such as bins, conveyors, packers, and dumpers, and complete required documentation.
  • Computer System Operation - Use the control panel and jet printers to enter the correct product information.
  • Housekeeping & Safety - Follow daily cleaning checklists, keep the work area tidy, and comply with all safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and company policies.
  • Bulk Trailer Prep - Assist with cleaning, preparing, and loading bulk trailers for shipment.
  • Other Duties - Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Plant Manager.
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • 1-3 months of related experience in manufacturing, warehouse work, or food/feed production is helpful.
Specific Skills:
  • Basic Math - Comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, as well as working with fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Reading & Writing - Able to read simple instructions, complete basic paperwork, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Problem-Solving - Ability to follow detailed instructions and troubleshoot minor issues.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand for long periods in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to perform janitorial and general cleaning duties as needed.
