Position Summary: The Utility Support Specialist will assist the Topside/Top off Maintenance Lead and Operator in maintaining marine rig operations for American River Transportation Company (ARTCo). This role requires adaptability, technical proficiency, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities:

Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
  • Operate mobile equipment, including loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and material handlers.
  • Assist in the proper inspection and basic operation of track hoes under varying conditions.
  • Support barge and fleet maintenance, including welding, confined space entry, and fiberglass repair.
  • Participate in crane operation and assist in obtaining crane certification.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Lead and participate in daily safety meetings, contributing to the development of safety lesson plans and topics.
  • Enforce safety standards, report deficiencies to management, and ensure adherence to ADM core values.
  • Conduct Job Cycle Checks and assist in developing and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist with confined space surveys, pumping, shingling, and inspecting barges.
Administrative and Communication Tasks:
  • Complete daily safety and production paperwork, as well as required computer entries.
  • Use computer systems, such as Microsoft Applications and Fleetcom, for job scheduling and tracking work tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with Leads in other departments, including Vessel Captains and Management.
Training and Development:
  • Mentor and train less experienced colleagues, ensuring they gain proficiency in all aspects of the role.
  • Participate in cross-departmental collaboration to expand skillsets and knowledge.
Job Requirements:
  • Proficient in the responsibilities of a Lead/Operator role.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks under supervision.
  • Effective reading and writing skills to complete the necessary documentation.
  • Flexible scheduling availability to adapt to changes in assignments or priorities.
  • Knowledge of barge drafting, winch operations, and proper rigging techniques.
  • Ability to work in various climates and physically demanding conditions.
  • Willingness to learn and perform welding, fiberglass repair, and confined space tasks.
  • Interest in acquiring additional certifications and training, such as Crane Certification.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and a human performance exam (physical ability test).
  • Capable of standing for prolonged periods and performing frequent heavy lifting.
  • Ability to perform prolonged kneeling, bending, and climbing stairs/ladders.
  • Comfortable working near or on large bodies of water, at heights, and in confined spaces.
