Senior Director of PD&A Colors - Erlanger, KY
This is an exempt level position.

Position Summary:

The Senior Director of PD&A Colors is a leadership role in which the dynamic seasoned industry professional has a working knowledge of the company's specific capabilities, strengths and tools. With a strong technical background, this individual is capable of envisioning opportunities for WILD and its customers to create mutually beneficial partnerships.
This position provides leadership for the PD&A color teams in NA and Europe and for the application teams in Nutrition around the world. The candidate will report to the VP, Global PD&A. There will be a close network with the Senior Director, Commercial Development of the colors platform and with color R&D.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage color scientists and laboratories, ensure customer needs are being met
  • Develop new color products, sources, and color formulations utilizing existing technology/techniques
  • Make sure to be leading in the various applications of colors (visual attractiveness, shelf stability, cost, legal requirements)
  • Identify customer opportunities and create customer specific technical plans to execute and win
  • Work with the Senior Director, Commercial Development of the colors platform and with Marketing to develop strategic commercial and technical plans to achieve financial goals, fuel pipeline and accelerate color sales showcasing the active portfolio and also new color innovations
  • Grow & Mentor Color Scientists
  • Recognize and maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Lead or support customer presentations and product sell-in
  • Help advance ADM's reputation as a leading, credible, trusted color provider
  • Embrace a team approach to problem solving
  • Provide input and clear direction to achieve successful outcomes
  • Knowledge of development of natural food "colorings" and the application of synthetic colors
  • Identify obstacles and seeks opportunities for improvement
  • Provide feedback that creates positive dialogue and challenges complacency

Job Requirements:

  • BS degree or higher (in Food Science or other related fields) with minimum 10 years of experience in the color business
  • Capable to manage priorities to success
  • Strong product development background with process and manufacturing knowledge
  • Experience in presenting products / information to customers
  • Creativity and passion for quality food and beverage
  • Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Trend savviness in all food areas and awareness of general consumer trends
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and developing others
  • Experience in working with / supporting sales personnel
  • Exceptionally quality minded with ability to discern levels of quality and deliver results against those measures
  • Team oriented and leads collaboration efforts within and between teams
  • Driven to achieve outstanding results
  • Self-motivated
  • Good decision making skills
  • Easily applies past experience and new learning
  • "Big Picture" oriented - sees impact beyond own work / group
