Shutdown Manager

This is a full-time, exempt-level position which must report into our Decatur, IL processing site for work.

Job Summary

The execution of shutdowns is a complex and crucial part of the life cycle of a plant. As a Shutdown Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all activities for planned shutdowns in line with the ADM shutdown management process.

Under the direction of the Shutdown Director, the Shutdown Manager is the leader responsible for the safety, quality, and outcome of the planned shutdown event. The candidate will obtain responsibility (in coordination with plant leadership) for the development, planning, execution, and close-out of the shutdown.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is passionate about safety, comfortable delivering at pace, a proven people leader, and an effective communicator.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible to work with plant leadership to develop and optimize shutdown scope, schedule and cost
  • Efficiently manage planning team, ensuring all FEL (front-end loading) deliverables are met
  • Manage logistics (develop site layout for event)
  • Define critical and near critical path activities and drive their execution
  • Lead reoccurring core team and steering team meetings
  • Lead daily update meetings during execution
  • Communicate with stakeholders
  • Oversee budget and schedule
  • Lead lesson's learned workshops and produce event close out report
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations from conception to completion of the shutdown
  • Assess and communicate the readiness of the STO (shutdown/turnaround/outage) event to the Shutdown Director and to key stakeholders within the organization
Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of plant maintenance and planning experience
  • Shutdown experience from planning through startup
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Projects, Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or a similar technical discipline
Travel

  • Travel to manufacturing facilities as needed
