Shift Supervisor - Decatur, IL

This is exempt level position.

Job Summary This position will supervise employees who operate and tend control stations and/or areas in an automated or semi-automated processing operation. Verifies specified processing and detects malfunctions through surveillance of control panel indicators, dials, and gauges. May initiate and communicate a variety of personnel actions; e.g., performance, scheduling and/or approving overtime. Generally, the subordinate group performs a single task or multiple, but closely related tasks. SFI supervisors will supervise and oversee the day-to-day operations for their assigned shift.

Essential Job Function
  • Support the expectation of plant management and quality assurance;
  • Training and development of subordinate staff;
  • Managing the plant operations to maintain personal and process safety;
  • Managing the plant operations to ensure in spec final product quality;
  • Estimating personnel needs;
  • Assigning work;
  • Meeting completion dates;
  • Interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies;
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Strong commitment to safety;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to plan priorities effectively;
  • Strong communication (spoken and written) skills for coordination, training and reporting;
  • Listening skills also required;
Education/Training
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Experience
  • 5 - 8 years' experience in related position preferred
  • 3 years' experience in direct supervision of people is preferred
