The Lab Technician is accountable for ensuring the integrity of our product in the manufacturing process and through release. This position will require the ability to utilize standardized techniques and operating procedures in order to conduct and analyze tests on sensitive samples. This role is a critical member of the Quality Team promoting Quality and Food Safety Culture.
Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician will assist the production operators in obtaining a quality product that meets ADM quality standards. The successful candidate will perform the required chemical and physical analyses, evaluate raw materials and the quality of finished products. He/she will contribute to the maintenance of the quality program and work on the improvement of the HACCP and BRC system.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintaining safety as a top priority in everything you do.
Conduct product analyses during production, and follow up as necessary based on results, with the Production Manager.
Perform and interpret all physical and chemical analyses of finished products.
Analyze, calculate and accurately report data on a wide variety of food and industrial samples.
Use appropriate software programs to process data and maintain accurate records of all relevant information.
Demonstrate flexibility and perform all work functions within established deadlines.
Respect all internal and external ADM procedures, without exception.
Ensure that products manufactured meet ADM's quality standards.
Support the Laboratory Supervisor in various tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Must be a self-motivated individual able to work with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
Strong organizational skills.
Good computer skills and comfortable with the use of computer spreadsheets and data management. Knowledge of MS Office Access software is an asset.
Available and punctual for day and night shifts.
Knowledge of basic safety rules for laboratory work.
Experience with AACC methods and Brabender and NIR equipment is an asset.
Experience with HACCP and food safety is an asset..
Education or Work Experience
Student in analytical chemistry or related field
