Railcar Repair Facility Safety Coordinator - Decatur, IL
Job Description:
Safety Coordinator is responsible to monitor, maintain, and update all safety records, programs and training as required for compliance.
Responsibilities:
Understand and comply with DOT, EPA, OSHA and guidelines.
Monitor changes for safety and health compliance and update as needed.
Perform safety inspections and review.
Conduct and complete injury investigations.
Attend safety and health meetings outside the location.
Good communication skills with employees, supervisors, corporate office
personnel, vendors and subcontractors.
Assist in job task assignments, mobile repairs and employee
supervision.
Ability to train and motivate employees performing job tasks.
Maintain and encourage a safe work environment.
Review programs annually for compliance and consistency.
Conduct safety training for hourly employees.
Job Requirements:
Must have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures
Knowledge of equipment throughout facility, including computer and safety equipment
Work with QA department as needed
College degree relating to safety preferred or equivalent experience
CSP preferred
Knowledge of OSHA 29CFR regulations
Prefer experience in human safety, food safety, environmental/regulatory compliance
Must be self-motivated
Must possess excellent leadership, team building, problem solving, and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication required
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
This position requires walking or standing for extended periods and working in environments at varying temperatures. This position requires an individual that is available to come to work during off-hours to address emergency conditions or other situations that may arise
