Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for overseeing completion of quality checks, verifications, and ensure product parameters are being meant on the production floor. Provide support to the quality manager in making quality decisions, investigating non-conforming product, and completing monitoring activities in a safe fashion. This position reports to the location Quality Manager.

Job Description
  • Ability to complete all tasks assigned to the Quality Technicians and cover as needed.
  • Ability to complete tasks assigned to the Quality Manager and cover as needed.
    • Tasks to cover during the absence of the Quality Manager include but are not limited to: Formal Release, verification tasks and ensuring sampling is taking place properly.
    • The job duties of the Quality Manager shall cease upon the end of the return of the plant Quality Manager.
  • Assisting the Quality Manager in development of personnel.
  • Responsibility to identify food safety and/or product integrity issues and to initiate and record actions for issues reported.
  • Responsible for assisting with the monthly Food Safety Training.
  • Responsible for training all new Quality Technicians to ensure that they are adequately trained for on-the-job tasks.
  • Responsible for training Quality Technicians to ensure adequate understanding of job related tasks.
  • Order supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in food science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in quality or manufacturing preferred.
  • TRAINING REQUIRED
    • Annual Training
    • HACCP / PC Training
    • PCQI Training
    • GFSI Training
    • Food Safety and Sanitation Training
  • Knowledge of FDA and State Regulatory Requirements
  • Team Player
  • Decisive and results oriented
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead, coach
  • Strong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis skills
  • Highly organized
  • Effective use of Microsoft office applications
