Position Summary

The Quality & Food Safety Manager provides strategic leadership and hands-on support for all quality and food safety programs within the ADM Milling Division facility. This role ensures compliance with regulatory, customer, and company requirements while driving continuous improvement in food safety culture and operational excellence.

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Regional Quality Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

Quality & Food Safety Leadership

  • Ensure compliance of all laboratory colleagues with Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of quality and food safety systems for human food and animal food (as applicable).
  • Serve as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and oversee Food Safety program compliance.
  • Manage prerequisite programs supporting the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Monitor incoming ingredients, packaging and finished products to ensure safety, legality, and quality standards are met.
  • Lead investigations of the deviations related to food quality and safety programs, customer complaints; implement effective corrective actions.
  • Lead traceability exercises and mock recalls.
  • Drive IRM score improvements and overall facility compliance performance.
Audit & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Safe Food for Canadians Act and FSMA regulations, BRCGS standards and, customer requirements.
  • Lead during regulatory and third-party food safety audits (ie. CFIA, FDA, BRCGS, customer audits).
  • Maintain audit readiness and oversee corrective actions.
  • Oversee non-conformance investigations and ensure thorough root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure completion of annual compliance requirements.
  • Support Food Defense initiatives, including Intentional Adulteration (IA) and Vulnerability Assessments.
Operational & Production Support

  • Partner with Operations and the ADM Quality Center of Excellence to ensure alignment with corporate standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage validation, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment.
  • Implement and manage Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) initiatives.
  • Utilize systems including ADM Weigh, APecS, Sphera, PolicyTech, SalesForce, and TLC to support quality programs.
Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Quality Control team.
  • Ensure analytical programs provide accurate, timely, and reliable results to support operations and customers.
  • Effectively lead all facility colleagues to establish understanding of food safety and quality standards and champion food safety culture across the facility.
  • Develop, facilitate, and support employee training programs related to quality and food safety.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and accountability.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field preferred; or minimum 7 years of progressive food safety experience.
  • PCQI certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of CFIA and FDA regulations, FSMA, BRCGS standards, and related food safety requirements.
  • Experience with document management systems (e.g., PolicyTech), spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
