This is a full time, exempt position

Purpose Summary

ADM Design Services is seeking a Project Manager to plan, execute, and finalize projects within strict deadlines and budgets. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct and lead project development from beginning to end.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with CAPEX CoE and other partners.
  • Set and continually run project expectations with team members, CAPEX and project stakeholders.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project.
  • Identify and resolve issues and struggles within the project team.
  • Handle the coordination and teamwork of project information
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Respond to technical questions initiated by project team, plant engineers and contractors.
  • Maintain liaison activities during design, bidding, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases of facility installation or modification projects.
  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to Design Services Department Managers.
  • Provide employee performance feedback to Department Managers.
  • Draft and submit engineering fee estimates, and manage subsequent fee estimate (budget) changes as the need arises.
  • Identify the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Uncover and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if vital during project cycle.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Direct the day to day activities of team members as they apply to the project activities.
  • Coach, mentor, empower, supervise and provide feedback to project team members and contract personnel, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Conduct project pre and post mortems and create a recommendations' report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Lead internal teams/task forces as needed.
  • Assists in the recruiting new technical staff.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and achievements using appropriate tools.
  • Track project achievements and deliverables.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Utilize engineering standards for technical design & drawing development to improve efficiencies and reduce labor costs.
  • Provide technical suggestions to designs by conducting technical critiques as appropriate.
  • Perform engineering design calculations when needed as part of the design team.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of test and inspection criteria and procedures which will ensure that facilities, equipment, and materials meet applicable specifications, performance requirements, and quality guarantees of contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers.
  • Develop project plans, specifications and associated construction documents.
  • Responsible for the quality of engineering and designs performed on the project.
  • Provide engineering and construction quantity estimating assistance
  • Prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance reviews.
  • Compile and maintain the project management information. Analyze and report progress of the project regarding timing, costs and risks to vital parties.
  • Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to CAPEX and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for sealing project documents and ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

Job Requirements

  • BS in Civil, Architectural, or Agricultural Engineering w/ structural emphasis or Mechanical Engineering w/ emphasis in piping design.
  • Professional Engineering and/or Structural Engineering Registration
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of engineering and project management experience.
  • Familiarity with the design of heavy industrial buildings, building additions or building renovation, including a variety of other types of structures.
  • Prior responsibility for preparing and checking engineering computations, details, drawings and specifications; reviewing shop drawings; gathering of field data for use in design and studies; preparing reports and studies; and construction inspection on a variety of industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of building design and process equipment for these systems is highly desirable:

  • New Facility Planning & Development - Retrofitting Existing Facilities - Plant Relocations and Rearrangements - Project Planning - Concept Development - Conceptual Planning - Cost Engineering - Feasibility Studies - Scope Development - Facility Physical Plant Planning - Plant Layout - Preparation of Construction Documents

Work Conditions

  • Overtime may be required to meet project expectations
  • Some travel may be vital for the purpose of meeting with partners, contractors or off-site personnel/management
