Production Coordinator - Columbus, NE

Summary:

This position will supervise and oversee the day-to-day operations and provide support for Performance Excellence activities and several administrative functions for the department. The Production Coordinator will provide support to the Department Supt. in the areas of daily and weekly scheduling, coordination of training, action item follow-up, colleague development and reviews, as well as completing updates on standard operating procedures and training updates/development. This position will be a day shift position, but may be called upon to provide coverage for supervisors on other shifts when needed.

Specific Job Duties
  • Manage plant operations to maintain personnel and process safety
  • Work proactively with department to meet project and production completion deadlines
  • Communicate timely with dept. superintendent to troubleshoot situations that may arise
  • Interpret and ensure consistent application of organizational policies
  • Ensures, daily, the safety of all operations personnel through;
  • Encouraging colleagues to work safely with environmental awareness and good manufacturing practices in mind.
  • Compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Recommendations for improvements to company facilities, equipment and safety programs.
  • Coordinates operation of the production area to insure adherence to established product, environmental, safety and housekeeping quality guidelines set by the company.
  • Interacts directly with Area Coordinators/Champions to produce desired operational results and employee development.
  • Works with Supt. to coordinate the department PE Activities.
  • Continually fine-tuning and optimizing the process, to improve efficiency and safety in the production area.
  • Conducts daily review of paperwork (i.e. operational& Team Champion, quality reports and Production Review).
  • Supports outlying areas of the plant (Elevator, Wastewater, and Traffic) and gives guidance to the area supervisors.
  • Leads in the development of area optimization projects through;
  • MOC generating
  • AFE generating
  • Issuing of Work Requests
  • Walking down and punch list development of projects and jobs.
  • Supports Quality and the Food Safety Management System and possibly as member of the Food Safety
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
Required Skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross functional teams.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently
  • High level of motivation and results-oriented way of working.
  • MS Office Suite
Preferred Skills
  • 2-3 years' experience in a leadership role/ direct supervision of people
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to plan priorities effectively
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for coordination, training, and reporting
  • Demonstrates ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Performance Excellence participation.
