Plant Process Engineer- Keokuk, IA This is an exempt level position.
Position Summary: The Plant Process Engineer will interact with the entire location and apply engineering principles to new and existing facilities. This role will be engaged in solving existing process, design of new technologies, and implementing standard methodologies all with the goal of improving the plant's overall profitability.
This emphasis will focus on the need for yield and efficiency improvements while maintaining sustainability. Position collaborates with the location Plant Manager
The ADM Keokuk Iowa Facility is seeking a Process Specialist to help manage and improve the plant processes. The candidate will collaborate with a total of 6 supervisors and over 48 hourly colleagues in production and packaging.
Candidate will work in the plant environment and is encouraged to initiate work based on general instructions from management. The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, ladders, work in hot environment, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, meeting deadlines, providing calculated information, project management, and budgeting.
Manage pressure vessels across the plant including boilers, processes both in wet and dryer operations and other plant utility services to maintain the Keokuk Iowa facility aligned with existing regulations.
Technically support the overall waste water treatment plant as well as the biogas process from the anaerobic digester in order to maintain compliance with applicable environmental regulations from municipal and state authorities as well as aligning with ADM standards.
Work jointly to manage the ADM Environment Management System (EMS) along with the Keokuk Iowa facility EHS Coordinator to maintain the location operations in compliance with applicable environmental regulations.
Write up and submit projects and capex requests, manage capital expenditures for the facility and execute the process improvement priorities designated by ADM Centers of Excellence leadership. He will coordinate the improvement process and facilitate communications between ADM technical leaders from different Centers of Excellence in order to meet process improvements and efficiencies expectations.
Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Food/Ag Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in plant operations/project work, food processing, starch processing or flour milling experience preferred.
Demonstrated participation and leadership in plant safety programs (VBS) and process hazard analysis
Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and manage budgets, schedules, and other resources.
Excellent communication skills - both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.
Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interact with multiple employees, management personnel and other partners.
The candidate must be able to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively balance multiple ongoing tasks and strive for continuous improvement.
Technical competence in engineering and related systems such as: pneumatic conveying, dust control, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and utilities.
General knowledge of software systems such as Maximo, Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, and SharePoint) is a plus
Provide technical support for development of SOP's, waste treatment operations, and general process trouble shooting
