About the Position
Plant Operations Coordinator: Based in Saskatchewan, Canada and reports to the respective Plant Superintendent. A Plant Operations Coordinator supports the Plant Superintendent in driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with company and governmental environmental, health and safety, and process safety regulations, coordinating production schedules and optimizing plant efficiency.
To be successful in this role requires an organized, detail-oriented, and hands-on individual who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a focus on environmental, health and safety, process safety, quality, and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all operations comply with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Conduct required training of all personal to meet company goals and expectations
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, addressing any identified hazards
Maintain accurate records of environmental, safety, and process safety incidents, lead or assist with incident investigations, and follow up on corrective actions
Spend a significant amount of time in the plant being a safety presence and leading the processes
Maintain compliance with facility's environmental regulatory obligations (e.g., site stormwater, hazardous/universal waste, asbestos and oil pollution prevention plans) including inspections, training and reporting
Quality:
Ensure raw material purchases are properly managed and tracked for inventory and quality purposes.
Ensure all products produced are within customer specifications.
Ensure outgoing products are shipped in accordance with customer and company protocols, while maintaining DOT compliance.
Operations:
Collaborate with quality assurance, production, and maintenance teams to optimize operational efficiency.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of operational issues, minimizing downtime.
Maintain accurate records of operations, production reports, and compliance documentation.
Implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in all Microsoft applications and experience with PLC based operating systems.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Proven ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and recommend controls.
Shown leadership skills demonstrated by resume.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Education or Work Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing or plant operations environment.
Experience in food processing or similar industries is a plus.
Familiarity with production planning, inventory management, and lean manufacturing principles.
Additional Information
This position requires working in a manufacturing plant environment, with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and moving machinery.
Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Will require working extended hours/on call, including weekends or holidays, depending on production needs.
Travel to other facilities within the province to support teams with training and operational best practices.
