Maintenance Technician - Decatur, IL

Position Summary:

The primary focus of the role is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of HVAC/R systems and kitchen equipment. The technician will:
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC/R and kitchen equipment in the Decatur area, with occasional support for Erlanger, KY, and Chicago, IL.
  • Assist in the installation of systems for new construction, remodels, and retrofits.


Physical Requirements:

The role requires physical endurance and adaptability:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders or stairs.
  • Perform heavy lifting as needed.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, or inclement weather.


Qualifications:

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle in a work environment.
Experience:
  • At least five years of experience in HVAC/R systems and maintenance.


Critical/Essential Job Functions:

The role involves a wide range of technical tasks and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

HVAC/R Systems:
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC/R systems using Building Automation Software.
  • Install and upgrade HVAC/R systems as part of construction or retrofit projects.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC components, such as pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, and cooling towers.
Kitchen Equipment:
  • Repair and install kitchen appliances and equipment.
Preventive Maintenance:
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as replacing filters and belts, cleaning, and testing equipment.
Field Service:
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace equipment in the field.
  • Maintain accurate records of refrigerant usage.
Plumbing and Ductwork:
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs and installations (e.g., domestic water, refrigeration).
  • Construct and install ductwork.
General Responsibilities:
  • Be available for on-call shifts during evenings and weekends.
  • Perform additional tasks such as snow removal and operating a forklift as needed.


Technical and Knowledge Proficiencies:

The candidate must have expertise in:
  • Electricity and electrical circuits.
  • Thermodynamic properties of refrigerants and refrigeration systems.
  • Proper use of tools and pipe fitting.
