This is a salary non-exempt level position.

Starting pay $65,000 Shift: Mon - Fri (11pm - 7am)

The candidate will be on day shift for a couple of weeks to train with the QC Specialist and then transition to night shift. Candidate must be skilled in at a minimum of two of the following lab equipment: HPLCs, GCs, ICP, etc. Schedule flexibility/availability is a must.

Job Summary:

The Lead Quality Control Technician is responsible for leading the daily quality control activities and quality analysis of the facility's inbound/outbound products on the designated working shifts. The technician is accountable to ensure the integrity of products through the manufacturing process and utilize the standardized techniques and procedures in order to guide or conduct analysis. The plant operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This position requires complete awareness of and adherence to applicable hazardous chemical safety practices and other process and equipment safety procedures. This position plays in active role in ensuring individual and overall plant compliance with environmental, health and safety policies.

This position reports to the QC Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) while on site Requirements included but not limited to:
  • Wear steel-toed boots
  • Cut resistant gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Hair/beard nets
  • Ensure all environmental and safety policies & procedures and practices are followed.
  • Provide leadership, support, and guidance to technicians and be a point of contact in the laboratory upon production issues and communicate efficiently via Microsoft Teams and Email to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Work and communicate with production team on any quality problems, or issues that arise.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and good decision-making skills are required.
  • Pass all required laboratory training.
  • Follow established SOPs accurately and efficiently.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance and troubleshooting for laboratory equipment.
  • Able to perform calibrations and verifications for analysis and laboratory equipment.
  • Assist in implementation of new testing method and method improvement with the assistance of the Divisional QC Team.
  • Responsible for training and development of QC technicians.
  • Able to perform verifications per designated frequency.
  • Track, handle, receive and maintain laboratory inventory for chemicals and supplies as needed in the manner outlined in the Safety Data Sheet provided by the manufacturer.
  • Willingness to learn and assume QC Specialist/QC Manager duties and responsibilities when needed
  • Perform all applicable analytical and sensory tests on in-process and finished products in a precise and timely manner.
  • Reporting, and interpreting results with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Identify inconsistencies in the data and report to the QC Manager or QC Specialist in a timely manner including escalation to production team if needed.
  • Participate in proficiency testing program.
  • Assist with variance approvals for release shipments.
  • Oversee usage of and provide support for information technology systems (i.e., Policy Tech, CourseMill, etc.) and ensure training completion.
Job Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in an applied science minimum.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an applied science preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills to provide feedback and guidance.
  • Desire to see continuous improvement in process and programs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot lab equipment (HPLCs, GCs, ICPs, etc.)
  • Able to work both independently and on a team
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Must have excellent communication, problem solving, and good decision-making skills.
  • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance.
  • Must be self-directed with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Lifting or carrying of weights over fifty (50) pounds is rare; employees are encouraged to request assistance in lifting or carrying objects that weigh more than fifty (50) pounds.
  • Previous experience working in a quality control or FDA regulated environment is preferred.
  • This is an 8hour shift, (5 on, 2 off) and will be on nights (not a rotation shift), must be able to work overtime, On-call, holidays, and weekend if needed.
  • Walk to all levels and areas of the process plant and work through seasonal temperature changes.
  • Employee may be on call in emergency staffing situations to ensure appropriate coverage as needed within the lab.
