The Role

The Junior Legal Counsel position reports to Senior Legal Counsel APAC and supports APAC Legal team by providing legal counselling on a range of all legal matters for the designated ADM business sectors (incl. Carbohydrate Solutions, Ag Service & Oilseeds, Structured Trade Finance) in North Asia (incl. Greater China, South Korea and Japan).

The key goals are: providing proactive and effective commercially focused legal support for the business operation of designated ADM business sectors in North Asia.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, advise and negotiate contracts and other legal documents to support daily operation of the business;
  • Review and update standard contract templates and better contract review process;
  • Assist Senior Legal Counsel APAC in providing legal advice and counselling to the local and regional business;
  • Assist Senior Legal Counsel APAC in mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint ventures and other corporate transactions and corporate restructuring in the region;
  • Assist Senior Legal Counsel APAC in supporting other corporate functions, such as HR, Tax, Procurement, Communications, Finance, etc.;
  • Support Senior Legal Counsel APAC in formulating various work SOPs for business sectors and corporate functions;
  • Cooperate with US/EMEA headquarters or South Asia Legal/Compliance/Regulatory/GR functions where necessary;
  • Perform all other Legal related responsibilities as necessary and as directed by the Senior Legal Counsel APAC.
Your Profile:
  • LLB or LLM from reputable law school and passed Bar examination in China (oversea study experience will be a plus);
  • At least 3 year PQE with experience in international law firms or leading domestic law firms and in-house work experience; in-house experience with MNCs in similar industry would be preferred but not necessary;
  • Have business sense and capability to develop and maintain a good relationship with internal and external clients, and drive desirable outcomes through influence;
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills;
  • High degree of organizational ability and be able to prioritize matters efficiently;
  • Highest ethical standards and strong integrity;
  • Excellent communication, analytical and negotiation skills;
  • Fluent in both verbal and written English.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and positively influence outcomes;
  • Highly motivated, proactive, self-disciplined and team-oriented;
