The Counsel position reports to Senior Legal Counsel APAC and supports members of the business by providing legal counsel on a range of topics related to legal matters in SEA and ANZ, specifically Singapore, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Myanmar.

Your Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and counselling to the local and regional business and regulatory and statutory matters, ensuring that the Company complies with all regulatory and statutory requirements;
  • Handle a wide range of legal matters ranging from corporate / commercial transactions, negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures;
  • Interpreting, reviewing, vetting and drafting contracts and other legal documents to ensure minimal legal exposure and liability to the Company;
  • Review and update standard contract templates and better contract review and filing process;
  • Work closely with business units in their strategic initiatives and partner them in advising legal and risk management issues;
  • Cooperate with US/EMEA headquarters Legal functions where necessary;
  • Perform all other Legal related responsibility as necessary and as directed by Senior Legal Counsel APAC;
Your Profile
  • Degree in Law from a reputable university; Minimum 5-year PQE in international law firms or leading domestic law firms (specializing in corporate work), in-house experience with MNCs preferred but not necessary;
  • Regional exposure required;
  • Have business sense and capability to develop and maintain a good relationship with internal and external clients, and drive desirable outcomes through influence;
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills;
  • Highest ethical standards and strong integrity;
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and positively influence outcomes;
  • Highly motivated, proactive, self-disciplined and team-oriented;
  • Committed to ADM values: integrity, respect, excellence, resourcefulness, teamwork, and responsibility;
  • Work independently with general supervision and direction from line manager in furtherance of department goals;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while handling multiple competing tasks simultaneously to closure;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
