Your Responsibilities
An opportunity has arisen for an IT Support Technicianin the City of London, to be responsible for the support and maintenance of end user technology solutions (such as desktops, laptops and telephones), shared office technology solutions (such as printers and meeting room video conferencing systems) and undertaking 1st line triage and troubleshooting for all IT support issues. This includes, but is not limited to, procuring, building & deploying new devices, installing & upgrading software / firmware, troubleshooting issues with devices, applications or services & resolving issues. Being focused on end user support, the role naturally delivers a first line response to a wide variety of IT issues which may require escalation & support from other IT teams to resolve. The role is accountable for ensuring resolution or effective escalation of IT issues as required to meet IT Service Level Agreements.
The main duties of this role will include:
Build, deploy and maintain desktop & laptop computers inc. installing/upgrading software, troubleshooting & resolving issues, relocating equipment and securely decommissioning retired equipment
Respond to user requests / tickets and deliver IT support within IT Service Level Agreements. Own issues until resolved or successfully escalated to an appropriate IT team for resolution
Log and update IT incidents, problems & changes in the IT ticketing system with a sufficient level of detail
Support users working in office locations or while working via remote access
Procure IT hardware & software as required and maintain the IT asset inventory
Manage external vendor contracts, relationships and performance including the review & approval of invoices
Perform basic network and telephony support including network port & patching maintenance, desk & mobile telephone support and voice recording system support
Perform basic application support and troubleshooting
Develop and understanding and knowledge of in-house and bespoke developed systems
Undertake project work where required including the evaluation of new technologies
Provide regular progress updates or deliver reporting as required
Assist with Audit & Compliance work, responding to requests as required
Basic understanding of financial trading, risk management and back office systems
Strong interpersonal skills.
Basic understanding of Financial products
Basic understanding of ITIL processes and standards
Good oral and written communication skills, being able to communicate effectively at both a business and technical level.
University degree (ideally in Computer Science or related field)
5+ years' experience working in an IT support role within Financial Services
