About the Position
The Inventory Supervisor responsible for overseeing inventory control, plant processes, and food safety programs (HACCP), while serving as the primary liaison for regulatory bodies (CFIA/Feed Assure). The role includes leading audits and compliance efforts, managing documentation and SOPs, ensuring product quality through testing and validation, and handling customer complaints and traceability to maintain full audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Oversight: Supervise warehouse inventory, including ingredient and finished goods counts. Perform detailed inventory reconciliations (micro-level). Maintain and manage IBM inventory systems.
Plant Process Oversight: Conduct and oversee Mycotoxin, DON, and Aflatoxin testing. Generate batch sheets and production labels.
HACCP Leadership: Lead and maintain the HACCP program, ensuring ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
Regulatory Liaison (CFIA / Feed Assure): Act as primary liaison for CFIA and Feed Assure. Coordinate, prepare, and support internal and external audits. Ensure audit readiness through accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
Documentation & Technical Writing: Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs and Work Instructions. Provide technical writing support for operational and quality documentation.
Quality Assurance & Compliance: Lead audit readiness through mock recalls and traceability; oversee batch documentation and labeling; manage customer complaints from investigation to resolution; maintain quality data integrity; collaborate across teams; conduct internal audits; perform toxin testing, mixer studies, and validations; and oversee Certificates of Analysis, SIF approvals, and vendor qualification.
Import / Export Compliance: Maintain U.S. import/export licensing in coordination with CFIA. Prepare documentation and participate in regulatory audits.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
SQF Practitioner
Knowledge of FSMA preferred
Effective use of Microsoft Office applications
Strong interpersonal skills to lead, coach, build consensus and lead change among a team of production/sales/quality colleagues
Strong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis skills
Proactive and results oriented
Highly organized
Team player
Education or Work Experience
BS Degree in Feed Science or related experience AND/OR 3+ years in quality experience in feed/food
Additional Information
Up to 10% travel and overnight travel may be required.
Work in accordance with local/provincial legislation
Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements
