Health and Safety Manager - Erlanger, KY

The Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all colleagues. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, establish, implement and maintain a variety of occupational health and safety programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees and compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
  • Develops and maintains the Emergency Action Plan and severs as primary contact for site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
  • Managers the on-site Security team and interacts with the contracted Security company.
  • Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
  • Provide advice and counsel concerning all city, state and federal compliance regulations.
  • Conduct specialized safety training programs to communicate hazard control information.
  • Assist in new employee occupational health and safety orientation.
  • Champion and conduct Safety Pillar Team meetings on a routine frequency.
  • Compile, analyze, interpret and report accident, loss and exposure statistical data.
  • Prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field is required.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA and FDA requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a teach is a must.
  • Must also possess great attention to detail, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills and strong computer skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Employee will work in plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions from management.
  • The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lift 50 pounds, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed.
  • Prompt attendance is a must.
