Grain Superintendent - Corpus Christi, TX

This is a full-time salary exempt position.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a high potential individual ready to take on challenges and responsibilities at our Corpus Christi grain export facility. This position reports to the Plant Superintendent.

The Grain Superintendent's primary responsibilities are to oversee, manage and coordinate the accurate and efficient sampling, grading, blending, weighing and loading of vessels as well as the unloading of trucks and rail. Specific responsibilities are listed below.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Works under the supervision of the Plant Superintendent
  • Must possess the ability to multitask supervision of truck and rail unloading / ship loading operation
  • Coordinate and schedule personnel for Control Room, Operations and FGIS
  • Develop procedures to maintain sample room equipment to ensure proper grading and testing are accurate
  • Supervise the blending of grain (Wheat, Sorghum, Soybeans, etc.) to meet specific load order requirements
  • Complete all associated documentation of the loading/unloading process in a timely manner (ex. status, inventory, charge-offs, blends/stems, and shrink)
  • Establish and implement procedures to monitor and mitigate grain quality concerns, maximize house space and cleanliness by cleaning bins, transferring bins and sampling bins for liquidity
  • Manage and maintain communication with FGIS and stevedores to ensure grain is loaded into proper stowage holds and grade factors are within contract specifications
  • Learn and understand FGIS grain grading factors and requirements for all commodities to be loaded
  • Take ownership of the logistic chain to ensure trucks, vessel and rail are ordered in and released in a timely manner
  • Develop a daily production plan for control room operators to maximize the movement of product and minimize foreign material generation while maintaining the quality of house stocks
  • Maintain communication with logistics group to ensure the efficient movement of commodities in a fast paced ever changing environment
Other potential assignments may include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervision of area housekeeping and cleaning of equipment and buildings
  • Supervision /assist operations personnel, maintenance personnel and supervisors as needed
  • Supervision/assist work related to truck/rail production
  • Assist with grain handling
  • Movement and operation of forklift, tractor, sweeper, gator and locomotive
  • Retrieve Bin Soundings and assist with Bin Deck operations
Job Qualifications:

To be considered for an opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Commitment to ADM's goal of achieving a zero injury culture; understand and follow company safety policies and procedures
  • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance
  • Able to meet physical requirements of the position including, but not limited to: prolonged periods of standing and sitting, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, working in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.), lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Willing to work 10 hr. days and be available for calls (cover weekends, holidays etc....)
  • Demonstrate initiative to work independently while flexible enough to work in team setting when needed
  • Exhibit a professional image at all times; maintain a positive and respectful attitude
  • Strong understanding of computers (including Microsoft Word and Excel), math comprehension and previous plant environment experience is preferred
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card) to access Port per Homeland Security
