Global Manager, Water/Wastewater Technology - Decatur, IL
This is a full-time, exempt-level position reporting into our Decatur, IL complex.
Position Summary:
The Global Water/Wastewater Technology Manager will be responsible for our global footprint covering wastewater treatment and water treatment, recovery and reuse.
The individual in this role will apply engineering principles to new and existing facilities with tasks ranging from process design to the evaluation/implementation of new technologies. They will ensure related systems are designed, built, commissioned, operated and maintained for optimal safety and productivity performance.
Reporting to the Global Director for the Sustainable Operations Technology Center, this individual will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for water and wastewater projects, and will coach/mentor global technical staff and related plant teams focused on water and wastewater treatment operations.
Essential Job Functions:
Display a dedication to lead, develop and support safety and promote a safety culture; promote continuous process safety improvement
Lead and sustain optimization efforts for water and wastewater process operations through use benchmarking and follow up/support in addressing related plant performance variances
Provide leadership for FEL (front-end loading) gated process for capital discipline and best possible outcome in new water/wastewater projects
Build and lead cross functional teams to develop biological, chemical and engineering solutions with vendors, other third parties and internal resources
Provide technical ownership for third party relationships within water and wastewater treatment
Ensure enduring asset performance of new water/wastewater systems through development of durable SOPs (standard operating procedures) and knowledge transfer processes
Assist plant personnel with project construction details to ensure most cost-effective operation
Collaborate with Research to evaluate promising technologies at bench scale prior to field trials
Commit to "hands-on" field assistance at plant sites during pilot trials, system construction and commissioning, and routine operation and trouble-shooting
Act as a resource for global water/wastewater engineers and related plant operations staff through coaching, mentoring and conducting training sessions .
Required Skills:
Dedication to working safety and to the awareness for the safety of others
Extensive competencies in biological and chemical technologies for water/waste water treatment
Ability to work effectively on a team, as well as independently, while traveling to remote plant locations
High level of motivation and results-oriented way of working
Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and influence key internal/external stakeholders at all levels
Experience with optimization/analytical processes and tools
Strong leadership and verbal/written communication skills
Working knowledge of common process drawings and documentation, such as P&IDs and control narratives
Willingness to spend time in plant areas - tolerate extreme temperatures, walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders and move through close spaces
Position requires significant travel including international
Required Education:
Minimum of Bachelors degree in engineering required with more advanced technical degree preferred
Required Experience:
Documented project manager/engineer experience for multi-million dollar water/wastewater capital projects
Minimum 10 years of experience focused on WWTP and water treatment
Minimum 5 years of experience supervising a WWTP (industrial or municipal) desired
