Job Title: General Manager - Animal Nutrition

Location: Portugal / Murtede

About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented General Manager for Animal Nutrition, who will oversee the domestic sales and export operations of animal feed ingredients. The role will primarily focus on driving the Portugal business, which includes building strategic partnerships, managing supply chain processes, and ensuring the high-quality delivery of animal nutrition products to key global markets.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a rapidly growing industry, offering the right candidate a leadership role with a strong focus on execution, innovation, international expansion, and market diversification.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategy:

o Lead and manage the Portugal business, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and objectives.

o Develop and execute strategic plans to expand the market share of animal nutrition feed ingredients in international markets.

o Lead a team of professionals across various functions (sales, logistics, operations, R&D) to drive growth and operational efficiency.

2. Export Operations:

o Oversee and optimize the end-to-end export process, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of feed ingredients to global customers.

o Manage relationships with international distributors, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring long-term growth and market penetration.

o Work closely with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with export laws, standards, and certifications (e.g., ISO, GMP+).

o Ensure that the supply chain is efficient, cost-effective, and meets all export regulations.

3. Market Development and Sales:

o Identify new export markets and customer segments, using market research and competitive analysis to inform decisions.

o Develop and implement effective sales strategies, including pricing, promotions, and business development, to maximize revenue and customer satisfaction.

o Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to refine the company's export offerings.

o Build and maintain strong relationships with key international customers and partners to expand sales opportunities and business networks.

4. Financial Management:

o Manage the P&L for the Portugal Animal Nutrition business, including budget creation, cost control, and profitability analysis.

o Ensure financial targets are met by monitoring sales and expenses.

o Report on financial performance to senior management and provide recommendations for improvement.

5. Quality Control and Regulatory Compliance:

o Ensure that all animal feed ingredients meet industry standards for safety, quality, and nutritional value.

o Work with production teams and suppliers to ensure the highest quality standards are maintained across all exported products.

o Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, import/export documentation, and certifications.

6. Team Management:

o Lead, mentor, and motivate the Portugese team, providing clear direction and support for their professional development.

o Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience:

o At least 8-10 years of experience in the animal nutrition, agriculture, or feed industry, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior management or leadership position.

o Proven track record in managing international export operations, ideally within global markets.

o Experience in managing teams and developing strategic plans.

• Education:

o A degree in Animal Nutrition, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or additional management qualifications would be a plus.

• Key Skills:

o Strong commercial background, ideally with knowledge of animal feed ingredients, formulations, and production processes as a plus

o In-depth understanding of international trade regulations, logistics, and export documentation.

o Proficiency in international sales and market development.

o Excellent leadership and people management skills.

o Strong analytical skills and financial acumen.

o Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in Portuguese and English; additional languages (Spanish, French) would be an asset.

o Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing market conditions.
