Your Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Finance, Engineering, and Operations to deliver actionable Azure spend transparency through reports and dashboards.

  • Develop and maintain showback and chargeback models based on Azure consumption data.

  • Monitor Azure usage patterns and proactively identify cost anomalies, optimization opportunities, and trends.

  • Educate business and technical stakeholders on Azure cost structures, FinOps practices, and savings strategies.

  • Drive adoption and governance of Azure Resource Tagging to support cost attribution.

  • Collaborate with FinOps Engineers to align financial reporting with technical enforcement of policies, tagging, and automation.

  • Participate in the design and rollout of FinOps policies and governance frameworks specific to the Azure platform.

  • Assist in the evaluation and operational use of Azure-native financial tools and cost governance features.

  • Measure and track the financial impact of cost reduction initiatives across Azure subscriptions and resources.

  • Maintain FinOps KPIs and metrics focused on Azure efficiency and spend accountability.

  • Analyze Azure billing data using Azure Cost Management + Billing, Azure Advisor, and Log Analytics.

  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards that visualize Azure spend by subscription, resource group, and business unit.

  • Support Azure cost forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.

  • Lead monthly Azure cloud cost review meetings to present findings and savings opportunities.

  • Identify untagged or misallocated Azure resources and drive improvements in tag compliance.

  • Work with FinOps Engineers to ensure automated tagging remediation and guardrail policies align with financial allocation needs.

  • Maintain a showback model using Azure Cost Allocation and EA portal.

  • Utilize Azure Reservations and Savings Plans data to support ROI tracking and optimization.

  • Review Azure cost recommendations via Advisor and help prioritize implementation.

  • Collaborate with FinOps Engineers to validate the impact of cost optimization actions in both infrastructure and reporting.

  • Prepare executive reports summarizing Azure usage, costs, and forecast performance.



Your Profile:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in IT, with a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and enterprise environments.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience in a FinOps, cloud cost optimization, or cloud financial management role.

  • Strong understanding of FinOps principles, with certification as a FinOps Practitioner or equivalent experience.

  • Knowledge and experience with the FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification (FOCUS) standard, including how it supports normalized and consistent cloud cost data modeling across Azure environments.

  • Advanced analytical skills using Microsoft Excel, SQL, and Power BI.

  • Experience with Azure Cost Management and Billing, including the EA or MCA portal, cost analysis blades, and exports.

  • Familiarity with Azure Reservations, Savings Plans, budgets, and cost alerts.

  • Proficient in analyzing consumption across subscriptions, resource groups, and services.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage both technical and business stakeholders.

  • Solid understanding of Azure tagging strategies, governance, and compliance reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with FinOps Engineers to align data insights with automation and tooling.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Cloud Engineers, Architects, Finance, and Procurement.

  • A broad knowledge and understanding of infrastructure systems and technologies, including:

  • Cloud Networking & Security

  • Databases

  • Active Directory (AD), Azure Active Directory (AAD), Hybrid AAD, and AAD Domain Services

  • DNS and Azure DNS

  • Awareness of holistic infrastructure engineering solutions comprising multiple elements such as:

  • On-premises private cloud and Azure public cloud environments

  • Solutions incorporating cloud and middleware capabilities

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with FinOps Engineers and Cloud Architects to ensure financial goals are considered in infrastructure design and lifecycle decisions.

  • Experience with FinOps tools that integrate with Azure (e.g., Apptio Cloudability, Flexera Cloud Cost Optimization for Azure).

  • Familiarity with Azure Policy, Management Groups, and other governance features that support cost control.

  • Exposure to IT financial planning and cloud budgeting cycles within an enterprise Azure environment.
