Finance Director Global Wheat Milling - Decatur, IL

Position Summary:

The Finance Director will oversee finance for the Global Wheat Milling business, which includes ~40 facilities across the US, Canada, Caribbean and UK. This position will provide leadership and support within the group to meet financial performance and projects/investment targets.

This role will lead the development and reporting of key goals related to financial performance, with strong linkages back to the business unit performances, so that all relevant metrics are aligned. This role will lead and supervise internal or external resources in this area of responsibility, and ensure we have a strong focus on results and develop processes to translate and clearly support business growth objectives. He/she will play a key role in mergers and acquisitions as well as in key partnerships and related financial projects/investments to ensure these are properly reviewed and contributing to the growth of this business in alignment with ADM's objectives and financial control policies.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Continuously improve robust processes for monthly reporting, operational metrics performance tracking/forecasting, annual budgeting and support the growth of the business
  • Work with the management teams, ADM and as necessary others in cross-functional teams to continuously review economic viability of businesses assets and products portfolio to maximize value for ADM and manage risks
  • Partner with commercial and operations leaders for potential M&A, partnership and Capex projects and help scope and assess any significant Growth Capex and / or M&A opportunities
  • Provide insights, analysis and forecast of trends and variances using as needed comparative benchmarks; recommend actions or perform financial modeling to assess optimization solutions or other courses of action, working closely with ADM FP&A, Controller's teams and the GBS organization.
    • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and dashboards used by management as part of the monthly and quarterly reporting processes.
    • Play a key role in annual and five-year strategic planning; lead the planning cycles and build the business plan, including: operating, capital and financial components.
    • Forward looking thinker, who can counsel the business management team in Identifying risks and opportunities and provides recommendations while also maintaining a strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models to increase efficiency and productivity
    • Work closely with controllers and the business functions to ensure a strong control environment and full compliance with ADM policies and local regulations
    • Lead the application of technology for better use of data analytics to provide valuable and timely insights to the business leaders and their commercial teams
  • Directly report to the Carb Sol BU CFO and indirectly to the Global Wheat Milling BU Leader
Educational and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar position in large multinationals close to operations, manufacturing, logistics and distribution operations; international or global exposure and breadth of management experience; experience in nutrition and/or food processing businesses
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment with multiple, changing and competing priorities; strongly preferred experience in a fast-paced scalable growth business, used to working under pressure
  • Results and continuous improvement oriented; ability to drive initiatives and lead changes
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and pragmatic approach; willingness to roll-up sleeves and make things happen; strong follow skills through and detail oriented with an ability to handle complexity.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as ability to work with various levels of office and operational contacts; good presentation with an ability to communicate clearly.
  • Positive, 'can do' hands on attitude with good collaboration, influencing and stakeholder management skills; ability to travel as necessary.
Functional experience:
  • Prior experience within ADM or in the industry is desired, as understanding ADM's complex business model will be an accelerator in the learning process
  • Minimum of five years of experience in financial planning, reporting and analysis; conversant with corporate finance concepts
  • Solid analytical, data analysis and valuation skills; PowerBI or related analytical tools
  • Capital budgeting and investment experience including partnership opportunities and strategic investments; M&A experience highly desired; Experience with due diligence, forecasting, and financial analysis
