Feed House/Elevator Superintendent - Peoria, IL

Peoria Corn Plant

This is an exempt level position.

Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for many of the day-to-day activities as well as long-term planning for the Feed House and Elevator departments within the Peoria Corn Plant. The Feed House/Elevator Superintendent will have approximately 30 salaried and hourly employees within a fast-paced, union environment. The Feed House/Elevator Superintendent requires demonstrated skills in the areas of employee relations and people management, leadership including short- and long-term strategic planning as well as ensuring safety, food and feed safety and quality. A background in maintenance reliability is also a plus.

The Feed House Superintendent will also contribute to meeting plant goals, cost management targets and ensuring employee development. Skills in all areas of communication as well as effective listening and self-motivation will be essential to success in this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must rely on their experience, good judgment and planning to ensure effective planning to accomplish goals, implement operational procedures and training as well as to enforce company plans, policies and rules.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to train and motivate the people they supervise as well as monitor ongoing success of the training program for the department.
  • Able to work effectively with the Plant Manager as well as other members of leadership within the facility.
  • Able to effectively communicate with management and employees both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage employees in a fair, consistent, direct and honest manner is required.
  • General experience with computers and specifically MS Office is required.

  • Ability to manage personnel and work closely with Corporate departments
  • Ability to look beyond the task at hand, to anticipate challenges and develop options to overcome them
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering preferred or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with experience in food / agricultural / chemical processing preferred or equivalent experience within a food or agricultural processing manufacturing facility in roles of growing responsibility
