Elevator Superintendent - Parr, IN

This is a salaried, exempt-level role.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Oversee overall elevator operations.
  • Investigate and implement improvements to elevator operating procedures.
  • Ensure efficiency improvements in department operations.
  • Maintain grain quality at an appropriate and acceptable level.
  • Serve as a model for safety practices, ensuring compliance with all safety procedures.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety hazards and poor practices during daily rounds.
  • Conduct housekeeping and safety audits.
  • Maintain environmental standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the proper upkeep of the plant's rail tracks and rail unloading operations.
  • Lead projects to improve elevator operations (energy reduction, efficiency, cost reduction, maintenance, reliability).
  • Follow through on the completion of projects designed to improve elevator operations.
  • Research and recommend process modifications to improve design, quality, reliability, safety, and reduce costs.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for team and colleague development.
  • Offer training, technical support, mentoring, and periodic performance feedback to team members.
  • Lead and manage teams effectively, handling conflict and motivating personnel.
  • Maintain good communication with the commercial and rail logistics teams.
  • Fill in and assist other departments when necessary for the benefit of the overall operation.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of grain handling experience preferred.
  • Experience managing or leading teams required.
  • Active participation and leadership in plant safety programs and process hazard analysis.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage personnel, schedules, and resources.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict, motivate, and instruct personnel effectively.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with software systems like Maximo, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Project, SharePoint).
  • Ability to climb stairs, stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and perform physical tasks like bending and kneeling.
  • Ability to adjust work hours as needed.
