Job Purpose

The Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent is responsible for the design, installation, operation, maintenance and calibration of all HV/LV and instrumentation installations within the ADM Erith site. The E&I Superintendent will ensure that the plant processing demands are fully supported by the electrical and instrumentation infrastructure, and that equipment is available for use by applying recognised maintenance practices to ensure equipment integrity and reliability is maintained at a high standard.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Electrical & Instrumentation team at ADM Erith, driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement across the department.
  • Oversee the maintenance, reliability, and safe operation of all High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) installations across the ADM Erith facility.
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory, UK, and EU legislation, and internal company standards for all electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and technical authority for all ATEX compliance, ensuring equipment, procedures, and maintenance activities meet all relevant UK regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive maintenance procedures for all HV/LV equipment.
  • Provide expert technical support for new electrical and instrumentation installations, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all E&I systems.
  • Serve as the facility's Senior Appointed Person (SAP) for all HV activities.
  • Initiate, develop, and deliver capital and improvement projects related to electrical and instrumentation infrastructure.
  • Act as the principal liaison with the electricity supplier/UK Power Networks regarding import/export related matters.
  • Ensure critical spare-parts availability and optimise the spares strategy to support equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Monitor, report, and drive departmental KPIs, ensuring performance targets are met and improvement plans are executed.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes to ensure all personnel involved in E&I operations and maintenance are competent, compliant, and up to date with current standards.
Your Profile
  • Management experience is essential.
  • HNC/HND/Degree Electrical Engineering
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical design software (AMTECH/CYMAP/AUTOCAD) or similar.
  • Ability to work with heights, confined spaces and with manual handling requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Effective problem solving skills
