About the Position

We are seeking a Commercial Trainee to join our Milling team in Montreal Quebec. This is an entry-level role designed for recent graduates who are eager to build a career in the agriculture and food industry. The Commercial Trainee will learn the fundamentals of grain procurement, risk management, customer relationships, and flour product strategies.

This role provides hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to various aspects of ADM's commercial operations. Over time, you'll develop the skills needed to advance into leadership and commercial management roles within ADM.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Learn how to manage grain procurement, flour blending, and inventory strategies.
  • Support daily operations of the Montreal Flour Mills and Candiac Starch Plant.
  • Assist in coordinating truck, rail, and container shipments of raw materials and finished products.
  • Participate in analyzing financial and operational data to support decision making.
  • Build relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams (operations, finance, sales).
  • Shadow experienced managers to understand how to develop and execute commercial strategies.
  • Gain exposure to profit and loss (P&L) reporting, forecasting, and risk management practices.
  • Contribute to special projects, process improvement initiatives, and safety programs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, or related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply).
  • Strong interest in agriculture, food production, and global supply chains.
  • Highly motivated, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Additional Information
  • All candidates must have authorization and the ability to maintain authorization to legally work in Canada.
  • All Candidates must be fluent in French and English. English is essential in this role as it is our common business language, which we use to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and a variety of stakeholders globally.
