The Commercial Strategic Planning Manager is responsible for driving sustainable and profitable revenue growth across the human and animal probiotics portfolios through robust commercial strategy, disciplined pricing architecture, and integrated planning. A core focus of the role is the development, governance, and optimisation of cost price structures and pricing corridors across key markets, ensuring commercial competitiveness while protecting margin integrity.
Main Responsibilities:
Commercial Strategy & Pricing Architecture
Develop and maintain mid- to long-term commercial strategies for human and animal probiotic products across relevant channels (e.g. retail, practitioner, veterinary, feed, B2B, export).
Design, implement, and govern pricing corridors across core markets, informed by cost-to-serve, competitive benchmarks, regulatory constraints, and customer value.
Own and maintain cost price structures, including COGS, landed cost, and market-specific cost variations, ensuring transparency and consistency across regions.
Partner with Finance and Supply Chain to ensure pricing strategies reflect input cost changes, manufacturing efficiencies, and scale benefits.
Support go-to-market and launch pricing strategies for new products, ensuring alignment with portfolio positioning and margin targets.
Business Planning, Forecasting & Margin Management
Lead annual and rolling commercial planning processes, including sales forecasts, budgets, and volume/value projections by market and channel.
Integrate pricing corridors and cost assumptions into demand planning and commercial forecasts.
Monitor revenue, gross margin, and contribution by product, market, and customer.
Analyse market trends, competitive pricing, and customer willingness-to-pay across human and animal health sectors.
Translate scientific, regulatory, and technical developments in probiotics into commercial and cost implications.
Develop market- and species-specific value propositions that support price discipline within agreed corridors.
Performance Management & Governance
Define and track commercial KPIs, including revenue, margin, price compliance, and forecast accuracy.
Establish pricing governance processes, including approval frameworks for exceptions outside agreed corridors.
Provide scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis to support strategic pricing and investment decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Sales, Marketing, CD&D, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure pricing, cost structures, and commercial plans are aligned and executable.
Act as a commercial partner to scientific and technical teams, ensuring strategies remain evidence-based and compliant in regulated markets.
Process & Capability Development
Improve commercial planning, pricing, and margin management tools and processes.
Build organisational capability in pricing discipline, cost awareness, and commercial decision-making across teams.
